Why does Yahoo! Brazil offers POP access in mail and FTP in geocities and U.S. Yahoo! doesn't?
If you use an @yahoo.com mail, if you want to have POP access you have to upgrade to premium mail, and using @yahoo.com.br you have it for free. I think if the service is the same, the rights and conditions should be the same for all users, regardless of which "branch" is offering it. The same goes for FTP in Yahoo! Geocities...

Inappropriate?Well, different branches of Yahoo! decide to offer different features. Thank you for the update on the difference.
I’m happy

yeah but then they should offer some option to migrate the account from one branch to another, so we can have the benefits of that service without having to create another account! -
Inappropriate? They do have. It's documented in Yahoo Help Central. Visit http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail... for the article headlined
How do I Import Contacts (+ emails and calendar info) from my other webmail account?
You can also use Zimbra http://www.zimbra.com/products/deskto... which runs on Linux, Mac and Windows as a desktop mail client for Yahoo.com mail.
I’m confident

Actually I don't really find justifiable to install a new app just for yahoo mail when I already have Outlook or Evolution installed and I prefer them. As for the e-mail importer, trueswitch offers that but it doesn't support non-standard e-mail addresses for i.e. Hotmail... I use an @live.com.pt Live Mail but trueswitch only supports @live.com addresses :(
