"Yelp is always overworked" when I signup with my zipcode 90210. No replies from Yelp when e-mailed. They're ironically promoting themselves in Rodeo Dr Beverly Hills events that I am invited.
Can't sign up for Yelp under my zip code 90210. Yelp keeps saying "Yelp is overworked right now". I have tried every day. Does anyone know what's the problem? and they're promoting themselves in Rodeo Dr Beverly Hills events that I am invited. What an irony. I've also tried many days and with different zip codes to see if they work. I have left many feedbacks and even e-mailed their local LA e-mail address they display on their site, for fancy I guess. None have replied in a reasonable time. Guess, their business of reviews on other businesses is back on their own being "not so great". They proudly mislead by saying, "not signed up yet, we still love you"........Yeah, you're right.....Otherwise, all businesses have a better explanation on things rather than saying "Yelp is overworked right now". Maybe, they should say something that has truth in it. Whatever.....

Inappropriate?Sorry, but I don't understand all the details. Are you trying to create a new account? Have you ever had a Yelp account before? Or, is this about a Yelp account you currently have?
When you say you are invited to events, do you mean events that appear on Yelp or are Yelp-sponsored? I am not sure so want to clarify. -
Inappropriate?Hi Eric,
Yes, I am trying to create a new account. Nope, I have never had an account before. I think, I tried signing up once back in 2007 but the same thing did happen. I didn't care then but they're in the news these days, so I thought I might help out on local businesses here in BH and wherever I have had fun around the USA with good reviews. I never give bad reviews to businesses ever, if any. Unfortunately, Yelp's my first "not so great" talk and please be the last one.
Oh, about the events, I think Yelp is one of the sponsors or they might have paid for their logo to appear on event ads. -
Inappropriate?I totally agree with your problemas I too am a fan of Yelp! However, I seem to find myself using other business review websites such as http://www.ReviewPage.com and http://www.InsiderPages.com more often. I am not sure why, I guess I am just a fan of the underdog. lol.
I’m Agreeing

Inappropriate?I just tried signing up with Yelp from the 90210 zip code, and I didn't have any problems making a new account. Can you tell me at what step in the sign-up process do you have problems?
-
Inappropriate?Hi Cush, thanks, will check out your url's.
Hi EricSuesz, thanks much for asking up and trying to help. The very first page(step 1?) does that. Googled up and maybe, it could be the IP address or their robots if any. What's wrong with my IP address? Tried initials and diff e-mail addresses too, no deal. Allowed cookies & eased security settings, but nope. Checked their terms but nowhere they said anything about IP address or location of a user, but that could be it.
Anyways, I'll try asking AT&T broadband about my IP settings or see if you or anyone has a clue.
Else,I'll try signing up from another pc/notebook, location, ISP or forget yelp.
Any other sites on the net seems to be all right with me. -
Inappropriate?Yelp trolls in my area?, doubtful but no doubt, we've got people here who has nothing to do all day.......I'll just let it go.

Mike "UranusDeMilo" W. says:

"You can't block by IP address.
First off, hardly anybody has a static IP. You can block the IP that the troll is using at the moment of infraction, but he'll get another IP the next time his router dips into the address pool. He won't be blocked anymore, and you'll wind up blocking the next guy that gets that same IP address.
Furthermore, most companies NAT out (Network Address Translation) a large number of PC's through a single public IP address....and this IP address is the one that will come up as what a troll at work is connecting on. You can block it, but you'll wind up blocking everyone in the same company. Ditto with coffee shops. Block that IP, and you block the whole coffee shop. -
Inappropriate? Objective: Yelp should drop the IP address ban idea.
Yelp could get more credible or highly credible by having all Yelpers to verify with a debit/credit card just like the hotels or Paypal and dropping their IP address ban idea. That way, it is truly "real people and real reviews" & trolls are 99.9..% out. You would know their real name and city & block them that way if neccessary. Real people wouldn't risk their real identity. Bad reviews could be identified as "constructive criticism" or an attack from a real person who've patronized a business.
Or, Yelp could be what they are now, ban real people who've never used Yelp and live with their cliches. -
Inappropriate?how do i delete my yelp account? i want to make a newone. some of my postings wont delete
-
Inappropriate?Brittany, you have to contact their customer disservice droid to request your account be deleted.
Or you can just post a negative review of yelp in SF and start posting in talk threads about all of the site problems, and they'll delete your acount for you.
I’m still angry
-
Inappropriate?Josh your being blocked by yelp. You cant have more than one account...I still cant figure out how and why they do that?
-
Inappropriate? At one time I had at least 3 accounts. The only rule about them is not in the TOS, but in the talk guidlines, where they say you can't post from multiple accounts to the same thread (talking / arguing with your self)
But then the droids that manage the site do it via Calvinball, making up the ruules as they go along. And of course the rules are different for different people. And it's worse if you're a business owner. Don't yield to their payola extortion demands, and you get screwed. Pay and the bad reviews vanish, don't pay and the good ones vanish.
I’m pissed
-
Inappropriate?Cookie they close my account the moment I open a new one. Like Im a yelp terrorist... I dont get it. I really wouldnt even be upset if they didnt kill my elite account which had 100+ reviews. I mean just banishing people...like the guy above is BS. The worst part is the threads are full of who evers in charge's buddies and they can say and do wht they want!
