real stupid!
The really serious problem with yelp is their insistence that users use real names and post real photographs of themselves. Then you go and review neighborhood businesses where you live or where you work. Can you think of a better environment for an internet stalker, who now knows your name, what you look like, and where you hang out?
There are already examples of users gettign harassed by others. How long will it be before a stalker like the one that murdered a craigslist user in minnesota shows up on Yelp? I wonder how much liability insurance the site owners carry?

Inappropriate?I don't believe you have to use a real photo of yourself on the site. You have the option of not posting your photo. You also have the option of posting something else as your photo. Personally, I use a photo of my favorite musician on there. As for the real names, why not just make one up if you are that worried about it? I don't think it displays your last name, just initial.

Inappropriate?Agree with Justin. No one's forcing you to reveal everything about yourself, although Yelp asks people to mostly on the belief that people will be a little more responsible about what they say. If you don't want people to have that information, don't give it.

Inappropriate?I'm being stalked on yelp. Someone wandered into the chat area called us all "loosers"[sic] and I told him to get bent. He spent the past 3 days calling me names in PM changed his name to "Kill Hollopoint" (my nickname is "Hollowpoint") and has now changed the name of his account to my name, first and last initial.
He said he wants to kill me on the chat board and all Yelp did was suspend me for 24 hours for responding to him. I actually hope that he tries something so I can sue Yelp after I kill this turd in lawful self-defense. -

The craigslist stalker is back in the news. I'm sure it won't be long before there is a similar murderer loose on yelp.

Inappropriate?Yelp has no interest in helping victims. They create victims and hide behind some FCC protections. Hope Stoppleman doesn't piss off any mafia- owned businesses. No laws to protect him there.
