WHERE ARE MY REVIEWS? IS YELP FAIR?
I was recently working in a salon I TURNED ON to yelp! I had many many GREAT reviews (JUDI RAGASA) and now, there are no reviews about me in their yelp list at all???what is going on here??? can a disgruntled owner banish good reviews on a former employee??? I can not imagine why there are NO reviews about me after I had helped him get started on the yelp site to begin with??? The OFFENDING salon is VEDA SALON & SPA in Gainesville, and I'd like to complain about biased posting!! I'd also like to voice the fact that employees of an estblishment should ALSO have a right to REVIEW and EXPOSE un ethical EMPLOYERS, and how they ultimately run their business, while presenting a fake ethic. What is Yelp ultimately promoting anyway??? honesty is honesty, from an outside consumer perspective, and ESPECIALLY, from an insiders point of view. come on Yelp, get real.

Inappropriate?Trust me, nobody is independently searching Yelp for _your name_ if you work in a salon, particularly under the salon you used to work at, unless you're pushing a client to look you up, which strikes me, frankly, as disingenuous. Looking you up by name is something Google or Facebook is for.
My guess is you asked/nagged your favorites and your friends (like Renee S.) to say only nice things about you - not exactly the total picture. You're frankly lucky only your padded positive reviews have gone missing, and anyone who is genuinely disgruntled with you doesn't follow you to wherever you're working now and expand your Yelp resume with some less friendly feedback. Incidentally, reviews can be flagged and removed by just regular old Yelp users who think the posts are bogus PR stunts - particularly reviews from employees - who doesn't say they love their meal ticket?

Inappropriate?Yelp is a complete racket! I have had eight 5 star reviews removed but one disgruntled associate loses her job and spend the next two months becoming an elite yelper just so she can post a negative review about my business. And, it will never be removed. Now they call weekly to get me to advertise on their site. They want me to pay them money to facilitate a blank bitching board for any peon to write any biased review about my business without any verification or recourse? Oh Yes, now businesses can respond but that doesn't affect the star rating which is what clients see when they do a search. I am astonished that there is no legal recourse. I am so looking forward to Yelp going down. They are greedy bastards and deserve to be sued into oblivion.

Inappropriate?Judi, I'm having the same problem but I'm the business owner. I doubt your former employer did anything to your reviews. Yelp deletes reviews of my business within days of them being posted--dozens of them. We always look like we are just starting out. Yelp just says that it is their algorythm doing its thing. It makes no sense to me and it is hurting my business. I have customers complaining that we deleted their reviews--we don't have that power. While the vast majority of our reviews have been positive, we have gotten 2 bad ones. The only reviews that have had any lasting power are 2 from very frequent Yelp users--one who has written 300 reviews and another who has written 90. Sadly, one of these two writers provided one of our bad reviews. She seems insane--her review is full of profanity and false claims--but it is one of the 2 that sticks.
I’m frustrated
