Yelp cancels accounts instead of providing content warnings
Yelp canceled my account for posting that a few area restaurants server shark fin soup. I was posting an honest opinion and without any warning, my account was cancelled. Yelp claims "real reviews by real people" but they clearly are not interested in living-up to that if it offends the restaurants that are being reviewed?

Inappropriate?Pompous jerks! They cancelled my account claiming it was "created by automated means", which seems to be their solution to getting rid of accounts of people they don't like or don't fit their demographics, which seems to be stupid horny single alcoholic yuppies between the ages of puberty and 25.
I’m pissed off

Inappropriate?canceled my account also after I spent the time creating over 100 real reviews...they were funny as hell too... I really dislike yelp

Inappropriate?Andy, did they give you back your reviews? You realize that was YOUR content that they had a non exclusive license to. And to top it off, misrepresented to you that your reviews were safe. To delete them is to destroy your intellectual property. They can say that you should have saved them to your hard drive, but no waring ever existed to say let you know that you could be automatically cut off from your content. Have you checked out YelpLawsuit.com? Sounds like you've got a case...

Give him back his "funny as hell" reviews? You have to be joking... If you, as the Universal Services technical and administrative contact for the website you conveniently directed injured party "Andy" to are using this as a free forum for chasing everybody who thinks they're funny on the internet and created content for gratis to which they gave the rights to Yelp as soon as they signed up for an account and accepted the TOS to recover the damages of 100 reviews - what's that, maybe 8-10 hours of "work" tops? - well, you're quite the crack team. Your post is being flagged as inappropriate. I hope you retain the rights to your content. -
Inappropriate?I honestly don't believe people understand the implications behind supporting the shark finning industry. Restaurant owners and consumers need to realize that the negative impact seen in our world's oceans through the ruthless slaughter of sharks for nothing more than their fins has been well documented. It is a practice that has been long identified with organized crime not to mention the inhumanity towards sharks.
If there are restaurants in your city that serve shark fin soup or other shark dishes, contact the Animal Welfare Institute (AWI) at: nosharkfinning@awionline.org
Forget trying to stop the restaurants on Yelp's website, they require you to have eaten at the restaurant to review it. I thought this would have been a good angle, but I was rejected also... and I don't want to pretend like I ate at a restaurant that actually supports the finning industry.
Hope this helps,
Bodhi
