Deleted account still linked to my gmail
I deleted my old Youtube account since I wanted to change the username—you cannot directly change the username, which is also really annoying, but that's another story. That account was linked to my gmail, so now, when I try to create a new account using that same mail I get an error message saying that my mail is already linked to my previous DELETED account.
This is just stupid... Am I supposed to get a new mail just to create a new Youtube account? Is it really that lame?

Inappropriate?I'm afraid so. You can still.... google it... but I've done that several times now.
Here's what I did:
1. Created a second Gmail account.
2. Within my primary Gmail account, I attached my second Gmail account.
This way I get any emails from my second account forwarded to my primary account. I can also send emails from my primary account through the second account. So it's like they're the same account.
3. Connected my YouTube account to my second email account.
It's a convoluted approach, but... better than nothing. If you want people to recognize you by your primary email address, add it to your "about me" info and your signature.

Inappropriate?Okay, so here's what I did... I logged out of my gmail. I created another account with a different email address (not gmail account). I logged into my new YouTube page. I went to my account settings and changed my email from the non-gmail email address to my gmail address. And now I have a new YouTube channel with my original gmail address. Yup! Kind of a round about way of doing it but it seems to be working! Yay!
