Thanks for your interest in a linux 64 bit version of Yuuguu. If you have time could you help us out by testing the pre-release versions we have ready for Fedora and Ubuntu.

Inappropriate? We haven't released a 64bit version yet but we are planning on releasing one in the near future.
I’m excited about all the linux users out there

Inappropriate?Hi, 64bit required for us to role this out in our company....
Currently using Glance.
Would not have thought it's much of a problem to compile a 64bit version if you doing the 32bit already?
Looking forward to the release.
Cheers
Brendan
I’m frustrated at lack of 64bit support...
-
Inappropriate?Hi Yuuguu,
Do you have a time line on the 64 bit release? I got to implement a solution soon but cannot without amd64 support...
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Brendan

Inappropriate?Hi John,
Thanks for the 64bit deb. Installed fine but ran into much the same issues as when forcing a 32bit version install. It wont run, get splash screen asking for a reinstall.
Tried with both Open and Sun Java on Ubuntu 8.10 amd64
java-6-openjdk 1061 /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk
java-6-sun 63 /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun
See attached screenshots. Let me know if you need any other debug info.
Sorry don't have a 64bit Fedora install handy, only PPC.
Cheers
B

Inappropriate?Brendan,
Can you please run the followingrm -rf ~/.yuuguuand try Yuuguu again.
If you still get the same error can you do the following so we can get some debug information:
- Run:
mkdir -p ~/.yuuguu/config - Run:
cp /usr/lib/yuuguu/config/yuuguu.properties ~/.yuuguu/config - Edit ~/.yuuguu/config/yuuguu.properties and uncomment the logging line (remove the leading #)
- Start Yuuguu and let it fail
- Send the log file that gets generated (~/.yuuguu/yuuguu.log) to the email address above
Thanks

That's worked a treat, thanks!

Inappropriate?latest x86_64.rpm doesn't seem to work on Fedora 9 (with openjdk does it need sun java?) last discernable thing in the strace -f log is utimes on /home/user/.java/.userPrefs/.userRootModFile.user but processes soon detach and it just leaves you at the command prompt with nothing else running.
However, I've now sorted that - turned on the logging as detailed above - this showed that the jre/lib/amd64/motif21/libmawt.so (not provided with Fedora) wasn't found - which was trying to be used due to AWT_TOOLKIT="MToolkit" being exported in my environment properties for some other apps to work properly. So to get it working, just run YuuGuu with:
AWT_TOOLKIT="XToolkit" yuuguu
and all seems to be well - win!
I’m happy on x86_64 yuuguu

Inappropriate?I would like to run Yuuguu on Fedora 10 x86_64 but the install fails. Any word on when a new version that will be out or how to make this beta work? We don't use 32 bit Linux where I work. Thanks.
-
Inappropriate?I'm still geting an install failure and I'm not sure what is going on here.

Inappropriate?Simply install using rpm instead of yum e.g. rpm -Uvh /home/fedora/Yuuguu/yuuguu-latest-amd64.rpm
I had the same issue with yum, not sure what the problem is with their x86_64 rpm but rpm seems tolerant of where yum is not
-
Inappropriate?THANKS! Using rpm instead of yum works for me too.But the beta amd64 rpm needs to be fixed to work with yum before it goes final, so does this thread count as a bug report???
-
Just a quick update to thank everyone for their feedback. We're working on finalising everything before a full release of the 64 bit version for the various versions of linux in the near future. -
Inappropriate?Hi! I've been using the 64 bit version of Yuuguu for a while now on FC10 and I know a few co-workers are using it on 64 bit FC8 without any issues. It works great! I can't wait to try out the skype integration on the 64 bit versions. How soon will the full release be... er... released?
Thanks
Savio D'Souza
I’m excited with 64 bit Yuuguu
-
Unfortunately the Skype integration is Mac and Windows only. -
Inappropriate? So this pre-release 64 bit version has been out for 6 months. I've used it for three months on a couple versions of Ubuntu no problems. I see don't any bug reports from users. Why not release?
At the least, please put a mention/link of the pre-release 64 bit version on the 'advanced users' page of the Linux download. Seems like you are turning away customers for no (obvious to me) reason.
I’m perplexed
-
Inappropriate?Still perplexed - why no release?
64 bit Linux users right now are leaders and influencers. People who try new things and promote them. Just my finding a 64 bit version in this forum lead to me to use yuuguu and influence ~40 people (probably all 32 bit users) I work with to install it instead of other products.
Aaron.
I’m still perplexed
-
Inappropriate?Good news, 64 bit versions are actually listed on the website now.

I’m pleased
