I'm assuming you are using some kind of FCK Plugin for Wordpress here?
Right now we're assuming you're using built-in TinyMCE editor or pure html. If you tell us your Wordpress version and which plugin you are using we can take a look at it to make it work in next iterations.

Inappropriate?All those editors have ability to have plugin for 2nd party application so it is possible to insert stuff via plugin.
One suggestion. Made an option that pictures can be inserted for some wide used plugins, Flickr tag for example -> [flickr]id[/image]
