Is Zipcar better?
I've thought about signing up for Zipcar or City CarShare. Anybody have a compelling argument for Zipcar over the competition?

Inappropriate?I've wondered the same thing. One friend mentioned that City CarShare is non-profit while Zipcar and Flexcar are for-profit. That may affect some peoples' decisions one way or another.
I think a lot of it comes down to availability of cars in the areas you'll need to get them the most. Their plans seem fairly similar.
I’m researching too and would be grateful for insight

Inappropriate?I chose Zipcar because of the number of locations around our place as well as the multi-city locations (we've used three other cities).
-
Inappropriate?And, this just in ( http://www.zipcar.com/press/press-one... )
Zipcar is absorbing Flexcar, so Zipcar will have more vehicles, better insurance coverage and more cities to use your Zipcar account in.
I’m excited about more cars to choose from!

Inappropriate?I originally joined Zipcar because there was no deposit (City Carshare wants 300 bucks, you get it back if you leave, but I didn't have that cash just lying around). Also Zipcar is nation wide. City Carshare charges a monthly fee of $10 and has lower hourly rates, Zipcar charges $50 a year and has higher hourly rates. So it depends on how much you plan on using on it (not an easy question I know!).
I’m a fan of Zipcar customer service too

Inappropriate? This is certainly good news. Makes the decision MUCH easier.
I’m excited to not have to think too much about which one to go with
-
Inappropriate?Yeah, the deposit part is kind of a downer. Thanks. You're making my decision easier, I think. Leaning toward Zipcar.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?City Carshare is much more lenient where your driving record is concerned. Zipcar says....I can't have a moving violation and an accident in the past 18 months? What am I....some sort of freakishly good driver?! If I hadn't gotten in an accident, I wouldn't neeeeed a zipcar! I mean, I understand at-fault accidents....but going 10 miles over the speed limit? Maybe it should be case-by-case. City CarShare didn't turn me down so I had no other choice. Poo on you, zipcar. PLUS, City Carshare is a non-profit!
I’m crashed

Inappropriate?I don't know. I didn't even have a driving record. I'm Canadian. Never had insurance. Drove a rental car or two in the US...but Zipcar took me. But if they HAD checked into my Canadian history. I had one speeding ticket back in 1996 and an accident when I was 16 (almost 20 years ago), so I am a freak! ;) (although I won't speak for the numerous parking tickets I have received!)
I’m silly
-
Inappropriate?wait, so you crashed a car and now you want to drive a Zipcar? DO tell me you were on the 10+ticket side of the spectrum of zipcar denial. i guess it's easy for them to create such broad sweeping rules because a lot of their drivers haven't even had a car in the last 18th months. i wonder how many zipcar drivers have a car, or for that matter how many of them have had a car to practice driving recently? (disclosure: I'm a Zipcar driver)
I’m wondering if experience counts for something?
-
Inappropriate?Yes, I crashed. I have had a solid, spotless driving record my whole life....buuuut the past few months have been unfortunate. So, I got one ticket (going 80 in a 70) and then had an accident that was my fault....no injuries or anything. So no Zipcar for me!
I’m walkin in the rain
