I’m frustrated

Why is it every time I use my flex card I later have to show verification of the transaction for things that should be self explanatory like the dentist or getting eye glasses. I feel it is unreasonable for me to have to submit a verification form with receipts attached every time I use my flex card. Why is this continuously happening?

  • Hi Michael,

We agree with you that it is frustrating to have to submit receipts whenever you go to the dentist or the eye doctor! The current rules in place by the IRS require us to ask for a receipt anytime a transaction it is not equal to a co-pay or a multiple of a co-pay (up to 5x), which is why dentist offices and eye doctor's offices usually do trigger the need to submit a receipt. The IRS has been asked if transactions under a certain dollar amount or at certain providers can be exempt from this rule and they have responded "no", but we will continue to look for ways to make this easier for you!

If you haven't tried it already, our mobile app might be a good solution for you as you can just take a picture of the itemized receipt with an Android or iPhone and submit it to us (it's really easy). Let us know if you have any ideas on how we can improve the receipt submittable process.
