Lacking reports for mandatory quests along with optional quests in different categories

We have a set of mandatory quests in different categories that we want all students to complete and then we have a set of exploration quests of different XP weight that students will chose to do. Students have to complete 400 XP in the Exploration category to pass the course. How how can we know that they have completed all the mandatory quests as well as achieved minimum XP in the Exploration? We thought of setting all the mandatory quests to zero and then the overall XP would just reflect the Explorations. However, in this scenario how would you know students have completed the mandatory quests? ...or am I missing something?

  • Is there a reason you have set the XP points as the defining factor rather than the completion of the mandatory quests? If you have the mandatory quests completed obtain a badge for example, then you know the achievement has been met and the XP associated for the completion of mandatory or exploratory do not define the outcome, right? I guess I see a possible approach as each category has a badge that defines the requirement completed and you can still have the XP minimum requirement to consider for the overall outcome. Essentially using a combination of Badges, Rewards, and Achievements to define learning outcomes. Please let me know if I am missing the mark on what you are looking to address, or if this addresses it.

  • Yes, that seems to be a workaround. We set all the mandatory quests to zero XP and then created an Achievement that required all mandatory quests to be done. Then we created another Achievement that determined if the mandatory quest achievement was done along with 400 XP (from the Exploration quests). ...so yes we figured out a way but it was very tedious going into all the quests setting those to zero and then setting up the Mandatory Quest Achievement with all the mandatory quests.
