Lots of weird stuff going on today in GameLab

Not sure what's going on behind the scenes, but I thought I would report that all sorts of weird things were being reported by my students today.

One student submitted a quest, it reappeared in both is Available and In Progress tabs. At one point he had three versions of the quest in his In Progress tab!

The same student also has a quest that has been completed that is stuck in his In Progress tab (I've reported this before with another student but never got a reply about it)

Also, when I received quests today, many of them had odd multiple comments/submission notes from students.

Also, GameLab was painfully, painfully slow this morning.

HI MrC, you have a couple of things here, so let me walk through them in turn:

    • The multiple quest state (in Available and In Progress) has, you know, been an issue. At one point, we applied a fix, but then it slowed down the system too much, and we backed it off. We're going to try something else today to see if we can't get it fixed again without making the system as slow.

    • We'll see if we can't get that older quest back under control for that student. We'll try to send you a workaround today to "un-stick" it. I recall it involves dropping the quest and then picking it back up, but I'll have to research to be sure.

    • The odd multiple comments is new. Can you please let us know of a sample with a quest, the gamertag of the student, and if it's a group other than your usual one?

    • The slowness issue is related to the first item, we think. Our thought is that it happens primary on the hour (10:00a, 11:00a, ...). Please let us know if you see it more otherwise. Hopefully we can have this one resolved by the end of the day.

  • Here's an example of a double submission.

This student said they closed the first submission when it was loading and resent it.

I think this may have happened lots yesterday because the loading screens were lasting forever that students kept closing and trying again....just a guess.

Please ignore my comment about the workaround on the stuck quest. We're looking at a solution for you there, but it doesn't have the work around I was hoping for.
