Error while charging your credit card

I am trying to add credit to my account, but I am receiving the error "There was an error while charging your credit card. Please check your credit card details below and resubmit, or try paying with another credit card."

I am certain this card is good, but I also tried another card with the same result. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

    I too am having this problem. I just received an email saying my expiration date needs to be updated and the link provided doesn't work! Worse, my account is supposed to renew today. I've emailed customer support directly as well as posting here. I see no way to update my credit card from within 3jam either.

    Sorry but it looks like we had an issue with our credit card merchant account provider and they have made a fix but it could take up to 24-48 hours to propagate.

    In the meantime, your numbers will not be expired. Please e-mail support AT 3jam.com (replace AT with @) and we will credit your account for the inconvenience.

  • i too have been trying to recharge, several times this week. I emailed a couple times, and still no response from support. if i don't hear back from someone in the next few hours i am porting out because this is ridiculous. I keep getting texts and unable to respond to them, do you have any idea how frustrating that is? And the card works, the atm and amazon can testify from yesterday.

    I am having the same problem of adding more minutes...My credit card is not going through... checked with cc company there is no issue with them.... 3jam must be having issues... I RELY ON TXT MSG. SERVICE A LOT, and if not fixed soon will have to look for other providers.

  • It's been over seven months since the purchase of 3jam by Skype and three months since the Micro$oft purchase of Skype. In that period, customers we're completely ignored and were given no updates whatsoever. This is totally unacceptable! I can understand the challenges in combining the three companies, but not at the sake of frustrating customers whose businesses depend on your service.
    Not only can I not use my credit card now, but 3jam has not been forwarding my calls to my Skype for over five months!
    Come on guys, get your sh*t together. Send out a mass email and explain in detail what's going on with 3jam and what great things we can expect.

  • I also am unable to renew my plan. I understand 3jam's website and service are being shut down and there is a transition plan, but we have yet to hear or see ANYTHING about this transition.

    I am extremely fearful I will lose my number. I've always wanted to port my number to Google Voice, but GV won't accept it (mainly because, for some odd reason, they won't accept any ports from my specific area code and prefix, 816-263). I came to 3jam because they would take it, but I don't want to lose it!

    Really wish someone would fix this now!

  • Hey Papool. I gave up and requested a port away from 3Jam Monday this week. I don't even know if it will go through, since the potential new voip provider was asking for a 3Jam invoice that shows address and account number. I never got one from 3Jam and don't expect one given the circumstances. The fact that we haven't heard about the transition plan and inability to renew the plan are not good signs. Which is too bad. I've liked the 3Jam service and all its features, plus it has saved me a lot of money.
    GV is not the only option. There are a ton of VOIP providers. Look at http://www.dslreports.com/gbu voip section to see how they are. Callcentric is a favorite there with just about everybody raving about call quality and service. Shortcoming relative to 3Jam is apparent lack of SMS and lack of voicemail transcription.
    The other two that I looked into are anveo.com and phone.com. Anveo also gets good reviews from people in the voip form, but its SMS inexplicably does not cover Verizon Wireless. It too lacks voicemail transcription. But it has a ton of configurability.
    If SMS and transcription features are essential, phone.com provides both SMS and voicemail transcription, but in general it is more expensive than the other two. You would need to look at your minutes usage and see which one of these providers give you the most bang for the buck.

  • Dude, you MUST be KIDDING! They announced the sale of the company 11 months ago and warned about service shutdown. There is a mile-long discussion about this and suggestions for porting out numbers. I have suggested a few alternatives myself. And it's not too late. I initiated a port in January and it took exactly 1 month.
    3jam is not processing renewals, but to their credit, they have kept the service going for us procrastinators long enough to get our act together. Contrast that with other VOIP companies that gave a shutdown notice and gave just a few days for the customers to start porting their numbers.
    This "loyal customers" bit is interesting. 3jam provided a service we found valuable. So we're customers not out of loyalty, but convenience. I bet if there were a service exactly like 3jam, with lower cost, and a no hassle port, just about everybody would bolt in a heartbeat. We payed for and got service and there was never a guarantee that the service would continue forever. We got our money's worth.
    So let's stop acting like helpless victims and start researching alternatives.

  • Well, I apologize. Your points are well taken. They never sent out notification and if you've been on auto-renewal and you hadn't checked the forums (because things were working for you), you would have no reason to hear about it. I mistook you for someone like myself, who knew the next day but just procrastinated hoping for a simple transition to an equivalent service which never came. I'm also irked by all the law suits abound.
    Anyway, if you're looking for help, take a look at my comments above:

    I went with anveo.com, and based on my recommendation, my friend went with callcentric.com. We're both pretty happy. I'm more of a tinkerer, and I had a special need that anveo's flexibility fulfilled. It's easy to sign up with either/both, get a temporary number and see what the features are.
    Porting is pretty straight forward. You fill out an authorization form. The 3jam account number is your 3jam phone number. It takes about a month.

    • Yes, I did not want to take a chance. Plus it is not just 3jam. Their actual provides is Level 3 Communication. Depending on whether the bills are or are not being paid, the provider might put up roadblocks to porting.
      And then, again, who really knows what is going on.
    • My instincts & intuition were correct.. Enlai got back to me personally and assured me my numbers are safe!! so everyone who ported out it was all for nothing! unbelievable but I'm glad we can still use 3jam because it's the best service out there currently..

  • I'm trying to compare anveo to magic jack chepest plans and it looks like the price difference is favorable for anveo.. according to anveo it's .99 / month and $15 for the port.. with magic jack it's $40/yr which is $3.33 / month and a $20 port fee.. anveo looks like the better option for "parkers" like me..

  • Based on your usage needs, there are potentially 2 different costs associated with anveo. One is the phone number itself, which based on your needs, is either 0.99/mo (Anveo Value) with incoming charged at 0.015/min, or if you get a lot of incoming calls 1.99/mo (personal unlimited) for all incoming calls being free. That's what makes it a bit complicated. The second charge is for the service and that is outlined at https://www.anveo.com/service.asp
    So the most economical approach for someone who is just parking the number is the combination of a Anveo Value phone number with the Free service plan. Note that all outgoing/forwarded calls do get charged based on destination. US is 0.015/min.

    • Imagine that! Actual customer service. My only gripe with them is that the fax feature is not working for me and they have not gotten back to me about that. But aside from that they are very responsive and they even have live chat during normal business hours.

    • wow, thanks for helping me here, it's re-assuring to know your port went through even after the number was expired.. lets me sleep a little easier :) So far my all my numbers are working as if nothing ever changed.. I have 3 numbers total, 2 expired, one still current.. The 2 expired are going to anveo.. the current is going to sprint as a 3rd cell phone - I'm hoping that's not a problem because sprint is identifying the number as a land-line which is weird i think.. "sold off and moved on" in my opinion it's incompetence & not good faith for them not to at least send out an alert to existing auto-renew customers before they "moved on".. I'm not a big fan of laws but this is an example where laws are important! best, Mike

    3jam is temporarily not charging credit cards. Call and text credits are replenishing on a daily basis so you should not need additional credits if you are forwarding to a US number. You will not lose your numbers.
