Is there a way to exclude weekends on the calender?

Is there any chance that an "event" type activity will be added, for example a meeting or appointment with a specific date and time or a holiday for a employees or clients? (i.e. James will be out of the office Wednesday 9:30 till 1:00 or Kelly has to go to a interview shoot 3-5pm May 5th).

My idea is to add a new activity type in the "add" drop down on the actives tab and also be a new tab like files. On the calender it could show up as a different color and when the project moves, the event date does not change, it needs to be moved manually so meeting dates don't get messed up. This is just an idea as to how it might be done, but any way to add events or appointments would be great.
