Bluetooth Keyboard - Disappearing Kanji suggestion box

Using 7Notes (Japanese) with a bluetooth keyboard, the kanji suggestion/selection box (the box that appears below kana (as you type) to indicate common kanji that match the kana) disappears about halfway down a page. You can still select kanji using the spacebar, but it does not the selection box no longer appears.

    Hello,

    We have reproduced this problem.

We have a couple of follow-up questions if you wouldn't mind answering them:

    - Is the issue the same as shown in the following image?

    - Can you reproduce the problem with the software keyboard on iPhone?

    - What kind of font and what size are you using?

    - Does the problem occur when using 7Notes in portrait orientation?

A workaround to the problem that we have found is to use smaller font sizes.

    Best regards, Ben.

  • I am using Apple's bluetooth keyboard paired with my iPad. I am using Thonburi font at 18 points and a two column layout. About halfway down the page the white kanji suggestion box, similar to the one depicted in your screenshot, stops appearing. I can still use the keyboard's spacebar to tab through kanji alternates, but I cannot actually see them. I am guessing that the problem starts where the A4 page would break in the document. What I am typing is definitely longer than A4.

    Hope this helps.

    • Oops, thought I mentioned that I am using the iPad version of 7Notes (Japanese). Sorry for the confusion.

Sorry for the delay on this. I am still speaking with the development team.

We are thinking that this could be an issue from running the Japanese 7Notes on a non Japanese locale iPad. For the Japanese version there are slight differences with the "English" version (i.e. the version downloaded from the non-Japanese app stores).

One of these differences is that the positioning of Japanese language predictions is handled by iOS rather than the application. I will install the Japanese 7Notes and try to recreate in our test environment. If it happens for me as well then it will need to be registered as an issue and we can try to resolve it for a future release. We will of course try to find a workaround as well if possible.
