I love this app but routinely lose text I have written because I accidentally hit the button to close the text entry area (keyboard in lower right) before entering it. It is positioned just where a right handed person would rest their hand.
Can this be moved somewhere else?

Even if you tap the lower right button, the first candidate in the recognized alternatives can be inserted in the editor screen.
If you don't like to tap the button, please move upward the input text area.

Not if you're using the mode that stores handwriting for later conversion. Anything not entered disappears. This is often an entire sentence (or more).

Yeah, that helps somewhat but I still hit it...a lot. It renders the app almost unusable.

This is clearly a problem for many given the other page you linked to. Why not simply provide an option to remove the button? -
