Create Alexa Skill to Create Items via Voice Commands from Echo devices

I have been using an Alexa skill that works with Any.do that syncs Alexa tasks with Any.do tasks. My simple use, is while in the kitchen, I say "Alexa, add butter to my shopping list." The AnyDo widget on my phone shows the list when I go shopping. It works good enough that I'm hungry for the same for AIB. "Alexa add Call John Harmon to my AIB Next Action list." Pro functionality would have Echo say something back like "Would you like to add a Due Date to that?"

I would be fine if this used Google Assistant instead.. but I do find myself being away from my keyboard and the natural voice commands would work super well. Also, i betcha this would drive AIB adoption, especially if promoted.

It's unlikely we would look at this any time soon, if at all. It's a specific thing to add for a small number of people who use an Echo. I'll add it to our suggestions list for when they are reviewed again though. You never know, it might be added in the future.

  • You are missing a very large opportunity in ignoring voice assistant technology. It is a natural for task management. Between Google home and Amazon Echo the market at this point is likely over 50 million devices. This data is from January 2018 https://searchengineland.com/analyst-... and it is only exponentially growing. If you did this it would drive AIB adoption that would far outweigh your investment.

  • Hello Kenny

I'm not disputing the evidence. Every person who suggests something says that its the one thing that will make AIB 'big'. Not everything is where we intend to go, not everything is possible to implement, especially as we're working on top of someone else's software which is constantly changing and being updated.

It might be something we look at doing, but we currently have a full roadmap of what's coming up for the rest of the year. It might just be that for us, the actual investment isn't something we will look to do. A lot of the time, that 'simple' or 'obvious' thing sounds great, but it's either not the direction we want to go in, or it's technically too complex.

I'm not a technical person btw, just an end user like yourself. The suggestion reviews are done by the devs so they obviously might see it differently :)
