Adobe AIR problems?

Whenever I try installing an application with adobe AIR, I get the following message: "The application could not be installed because the AIR file is damaged" There's more to the sentence but now I'm started to get angry and my patience with this issue is thin. So what do I do?

Hi Yuki,

That's a rather generic error message, and can often mean alot of different things. Usually it is because the developer has mis-configured the installer, and an error results. Doesn't sound like that's the case here.

There are a few things you can try:

1) Try saving the air file to your desktop. Internet Explorer will mysteriously save it as a .zip, so just rename the extension to .air. Try manually installing by double clicking it from your filesystem, rather than using the launcher from air. That "may" work.
2) I'm assuming that all AIR applications are giving you this trouble, so if that is the case I would recommend uninstalling the AIR runtime, and reinstalling a fresh copy. You can go to add/remove programs and uninstall from there, then download the runtime by itself (not packaged with an app) by going to and clicking on the Get AIR button.

Ensure you are logged in as Administrator or a user with Administrator priviledges when performing these steps.

I'm having even more problems just trying to start over! When I go to add/remove programs and try to remove AIR, it crashes. I can't get it off my system, and I can't get it to work while it's here.

I'm running Windows XP as admin when I'm trying to do this. Please let me know what other information you need to be able to fix this, because there are several programs that use AIR that I'd LOVE to be able to use.

Same problem here! Nothing is working!

Every Air app exits immediately with error!

Can't seem to get Adobe Air to work, this is what I get when it says that it has stopped working during the installation process
