Cannot find Xpand!2 within Pro Tools

I've purchased and installed Xpand!2, and have registered the license through iLok, but I still cannot find the Xpand!2 plugin within Pro Tools. Are there any further steps to be taken? I even uninstalled, redownloaded the zip file, and reinstalled. Still the plugin does not show up in Pro Tools anywhere.

I am running the most recent version of Pro Tools (I just installed it a few days ago), and I'm on Windows.

  • Hi Trent,

    Thanks for posting.

Can you please provide me with your full system specs, as well as the version of Xpand!2and Pro Tools you're using?

  • Thanks for the additional information.

Have you tried organizing your plugins by manufacturer? You can adjust this setting by navigating to the Preferences window. After doing this, create a mono and stereo track and check to see if you're able to see the plugins Follow these steps below:

    1. Launch Pro Tools and go to the Preferences menu:

      Windows: Setup > Preferences...
      * Mac: Pro Tools Preferences...

    2. Set Organize Plug-In Menus By section to Category and Manufacturer and then press OK
    3. Create a mono and stereo audio track
    4. Click Insert A-E to view the plugin menu.

If you still do not see your plugin, try trashing your Pro Tools preferences. This will for Pro Tools to rescan all of the plugins within that folder.

If you still do not see your plugin, you will need to check to make sure that the plugin is where it is supposed to be on your computer.

Follow these steps below to check the plugins folder:

    Windows

    1. Open File Explorer and select the C: drive.
    2. Follow the file path below to find your plugins:
Pro Tools 11 or 12 (AAX)

      C: > Program Files > Avid > Audio Plug-ins

    Mac

    1. In a new Finder window, click on Go > Computer.
    2. Follow the file path below to find your plugins:
Pro Tools 11 or 12 (AAX)

      Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Avid > Audio Plug-ins

    I hope this helps!
    • Okay, I tried everything you explained, I still do not see it. And it's not in the Plug-ins folder either. But that makes sense since I cannot find an AAX file for the Xpand!2 plugin anywhere on my computer. I've searched the AIR website and Avid's website and I cannot find a download or installer for an AAX plugin. When I installed Xpand!2 it only gave me the option to install 32-bit and 64-bit VSTs, which I know are not compatible with Pro Tools.

EDIT: I am now aware that the version I purchased is only compatible with AU and VST formats. I really wish I had seen that before I blew my money -_- It says the AAX is available with the Air Creative Collection, and I was completely missing the links for that in my Avid account, but I've got it all figured out now LOL
