Ignite not loading instruments in Windows 10 - Instruments on SD card, software on C Drive

Hello, I recently downloaded Ignite as included software with an Alesis Control Hub. Having watched video tutorials for Ignite, it seems to be an ideal DAW for me, but unfortunately I can't use it.

I have a laptop with only 32GB SSD and the storate space is continually filled by Windows 10 updates. I was able to download Ignite and the associated sound packs to an SD card I'm using for external storage. The program has installed itself to the C: drive and launches and brings up the home menu as it should, but no instruments seem to be loaded with it. On the SD card I downloaded everything to, there is a folder called 'Ignite' with several vfsb files that seem to be the instruments, but they are not available when I load the program.

I don't think uninstalling and reinstalling Ignite will be possible. A recent Windows 10 update has left me with only 600MB of space on the C: drive, even after deleting all unnecessary programs.

Is there some way of getting Ignite, which is installed on my C: drive, to recognise and access the instrument files which are on the SD card? Thanks for any help you can offer.

  • Hi Aaron,

    Thanks for posting.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Ignite is going to work on this particular computer, as you said it only has 32GB available. In order for the instruments to be recognized within Ignite, you will need to have both the software and all of its configuration and instrument files on the same (internal) drive. That being said, i would recommend using this software on another computer.

  • Hi Bill,

Thank you for your reply to my query. I have actually managed to get Ignite working, by ensuring all the files are on one USB stick (I think the initial problem must have been caused by the software files being on the C drive and the instrument files being on the USB stick; reinstalling everything to run from the USB stick has solved the issue).

I'm delighted with Ignite and find it to be simple to use, and I'm already creating stuff I like with it. Unfortunately I have a problem with recording audio and getting Ignite to recognise the interface I'm using. I've created a separate thread about this and would be very grateful for any help you can offer.
