My new Akai Advance-49 keyboard "Plug-ins" are not being detected by my MOTU-DP9 DAW

Does anyone use the MOTU DP9 DAW? If so, how successful have you been, getting AIR Tech., VIPi and other AKai generated plug-ins, to be recognized by the DAW? VIP> settings>Plugin Manager, can't find/detect my files. Thank you in advance, if you can help.

  • Hello,

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I'm not very familiar with the MOTU DAW but it appears the supported plug-in formats are the following:

    • Audio Units (Mac only)
    • VST
    • MAS

If your plugins are not in this format then it will not open up in your DAW.

The supported operating systems for your DAW is the following:

    • Mac OS X version 10.6.8 or later
    • Windows 7 (32- and 64-bit)
    • Windows 8 (32- and 64-bit)
    • Windows 10

  • Chris D., thanks so much for your response. My knowledge about this subject is very limited. That said, are you suggesting, my plug-ins are only for Mac? My DAW, as you indicated, is cross platform. Should I not expect my plug-ins to work on my PC? All of my work in the past has been done inside Mac computers, until now. Should I be using a Mac for the successful use of my Akai Advance keyboard, VIP, Air Tech., etc.? Thanks Chris!!

    • I don't think this is an issue with our software but it really sounds like something either isn't being recognized correctly or its a bit issue. To correctly diagnose your issue, I recommend calling into technical support and having an agent help you out over the phone. Log onto www.airmusictech.com/support to contact AIR Technical Support. Their office contact numbers are listed on that page. Thanks.
    • That beautiful, Chris. I agree-thanks!

  • have you tried un loading them and re loading them... as vip is a VST plug in sometimes times digital performer defaults to AU plug in and doesn't see the VST ones.... i have digital performer and it did the same thing to me... i think i went to plug in manager and find (16 out) which for some reason is the name VIP come in as... tick the box and click enable ....most likely the other VST plugins say "not primary) when you click enable performer will scan and find the VSTi ...you can do the same thing with other VSTi as well.... once VIP is open you can see other sounds from with the program...like the app ....hope this helps!! dave
