I’m frustrated

Strike installation failed

Twice now I've downloaded the full set of Strike 2.0.3 dmg files. No matter where I run the installer, whether it be from the mounted image or if I copy it out to the boot drive, the installer goes most of the way before it tells me that the installation failed.

    By default, your installer should install to the following directory HD > Library > Audio > Plug-Ins > Components. Do not attempt to change the directory of where this is installing to.

    You can however try to move the content after to an external driver like I've tried with Velvet 2. Here's what I did..

    Click Finder, then Finder Preferences. Click Sidebar at the top. Then ensure that hard disk, external disks are checked under Devices. (if in doubt, check everything on this page). If these are not checked, customer's drives will not display in the sidebar as a valid location for content.

    Navigate to Applications > AIR Music Technology > Velvet folder. Locate the Velvet Data.big file. This is what to move. Do not move the presets. These are only configuration files. The sound libraries are contained in the Velvet Data.big file.

    Move this file to the external drive location. Remember to note this exact location.

    Then open Velvet in a host DAW. Click the Wrench on the bottom left next to the keyboard. Click the Content Location box, then navigate to the folder from the sidebar that contains your Velvet Data.big file. If the customer drives are displaying, then external drives aren't checked in Finder Preferences (see above). Click Choose once the correct location is chosen. Velvet may prompt you to restart the plugin. Save, close the project, then restart the project. The content will be located on the external drive.

    Browser crashes if downloading and come here.


    This happens in both Safari and Chrome. If I'm downloading files, specifically IEP dmg files from digital river, and I come here to the air community, the browser crashes and I lose the download progress.

    Once this has happened, I have to reboot to be able to get to the community again.

    Your assumption that I have been changing the install paths is mistaken. I have been able to install all three versions of the plugin individually. It's the content library install that fails every time. I have an SSD with enough space, but it fails every time.

    The content of both Strike and Structure fails to install with the following installer error. I did not try to customize the install. All paths are default.

    Chris, thank you for your reply. Can the installer be corrupt even though the disk image pieces pass the hash check and I'm able to access the installer? I don't desire having to download the Strike and Structure images again. Bandwidth isn't free. In both installers, I can install everything except the content.
