Transfuser 2 - Content File Missing!

Hello,

I have read all the posts which I can find to this problem. But there was no solution which works with my system. So I hope, that the support can give an answer which is working.

I have a clean only for making music Windows 8.1 System. My system is up to date. I have the newest version from T2 and I have it activated with iLok. i use the newest iLok and VIP 3.0 version and Cubase 9. But it's not possible to use the T2 in a normal way. I can open it and the drumfiles will be playing. I can hear the beats. But the other files are missing. When I go to the folder of the library files than I can see them. When I want to choice them from T2 there are not visible. It looks like that these aren't activated. But this cannot be. I have done it very often and I have the T2 very often installed and deinstalled, too. Without a positiv result. I don't understand the problem.

I've read about the method of configuration in the regedit but when I look into it everything looks fine. I can't make any changes which helps me. It isn't possible for me to shift the content from one folder to another, which helps some other users, because my T2 cannot find the library files.

So I hope to get help from here. It's not funny to need hours by hours to solve this problem.

Thank you for your help.

  • I'm having the same issue in VIP but not in Ableton. I have read several others having this issue in these forums but no fix. The last I remember is that it's the way that VIP opens the plugin by patch that is screwing up.

    Here's a thread on it ...

  • Thank you Phillip,

I've read it but it's very frustrating that Akai-Software VIP runs so bad. I cannot work with it, because there are always crashes on my system. I hoped of Version 3 but it's the same. And no vst3-support too. I use my PC only for making music and it's a top currently and very clean system. I have with no other software problems but VIP is a catastrophe. Many times I'm angry about it that my decision was for the wrong system. Now I can say that Native Instruments with his controllers and the NKS system is the better choice than my M-Audio controller with VIP.

The best is that the Akai support reads the messages and after two mails without helping they don't answer anymore, because they can't give or want help. I've read so many helping-calls but they interrupt the support without giving a solution.

Bad support and bad software. I'm very dissapointed from such a huge company like Akai. Professional is other.

  • Same problem with VIP 3.1.0 standalone host, with Transfuser 2.0.7 64-bit.

Transfuser works fine in Ableton Live 10 and Tracktion Waveform 9, even with the VIP used as a plugin.

I realize that there are challenges to using VIP with all plugins, as there are a very diverse set of methods that various plugins use to communicate preset data with their hosts. Finding 100% compatibility would be a difficult task for anybody. NI wisely tossed that responsibility over the fence to the plugin developers with the NKS standard. You will probably end up with a walled garden of functional plugins, but you will never see 100% compatibility across the board there. Good luck with that in a perfect world!

So I choose to use VIP for what it offers, in a virtual Tower of Babel of plugin standards. I have more control over 10's of thousands of patches that I would not otherwise have. :)

  • Hello @ all,

I had exactly the same problem with VIP and Ableton Live under Windows7.
I searched for the files reported as missing, extracted them from the download, copied them to the original directory, even to other locations (VST-, program-, user-directories) that seemed suitable. I also completely reinstalled Transfuser and tried some other tricks, nothing helped :-(

Of course I saved all my music and configuration files before any "playing around" in case my attempts would have deleted or changed them. I strongly recommend this, although it seems to be unnecessary for the following procedure, that solved the problem at least for me. But as we say in Germany: "sicher ist sicher"...

0.) save Your work (music, but also VIP Backup, other configuration files Yo may have changed, ...)
1.) deactivate all inmusic licenses (in my case from M-Audio, but AKAI also) at pace license manager (ilok)
2.) deinstall/remove all (!) inmusic products using the standard Windows procedure
(I use a CTRL49 and only left its Windows-driver installed)
3.) install all (!) deinstalled inmusic products from the downloaded files as if You never had them installed
4.) activate all (!) inmusic licenses at pace license manager (ilok)

There may be smarter ways not requiring the whole procedure, but I tried some and they did not help me.
This is a PITA, especially if You have to download everything again. Being disappointed by experience (not initially by inmusic, but many software vendors and general computer crashes and catastrophes) I always save all my downloads of installed products in order to have them at hand to reinstall them.

Hope that helps those of You with this problem.

  • Martin,
I don't think this fixed your Transfuser "content file missing" when running in VIP.

    • Can you load up standalone VIP and go to transfuser and select a couple different patches and play them? I didn't see the popup until I switched patches in Transfuser.
    • Well I know that I have Transfuser installed correctly, as it opens presets without error in any other host here, except with VIP standalone.

Transfuser also works well within VIP, when VIP is used as a plugin, including Ableton Live 10.

Something is borked with Transfuser only when I run VIP as standalone. I assume something is mangled in the path or permissions of the content in this context only. What's strange is that even running VIP standalone in Administrator mode does not resolve the error.

IMHO uninstalling/re-installing AIR-Akai-M-Audio everything wouldn't be worth the trouble for me to achieve a slight gain in functionality, even if it did work.

This is something that the AIR devs need to address.

Running Windows 10, with the latest version of VIP and Transfuser.

  • Moinmoin,

modern software (OS, SW, configuration) is very complex, so You never can tell...
    But these are my facts:
    - had some experience with ableton and VSTs (NI, free, som bought)
    - acquired VIP 3.1.1.14 and a few inmusic VSTs since I bought an AKAI APCkey25 for travel purposes, before tused some other VSTs (NI, free and bought) with Ableton and VIP
    - after a while bought a used CTRL49 for livepurposes and downloaded Transfuser and the other software coming with it
    - installed everything, and it worked (played around with Transfuser's Urban Grooves)
    - installed some other things (like NI-plugins), after which I got the error message and did not get the Transfuser samples
    - spent one day experimenting with files, paths, and registry
    - cursed a lot and deinstalled -> reinstalled all inmusic software (VIP and all other VSTs coming with it)
    - now everything works but Ableton. Tt is not the same error message as before (and which starts this thread)

Transfuser in VIP as VST in Ableton works, however. So there is at least a workaround for me...

    HTH
