I've bought an Alesis VI25, which comes with downloads for Ableton Live 9 Lite and Xpand!2. Ableton downloaded and works fine.
There's a problem with Xpand!2, though. It appears to download OK, but the authorizer won't open. It's been downloaded from http://airmusictech.com/download-xpand2/, as instructed by Alesis and when I first went through the process I was sent a serial number by Air Music Tech. So - I can't open the authorizer, can't register with the serial number so can't use Xpand!2. I've tried a fresh download 4 or 5 times but with no luck. Anyone any ideas?
Many thanks!
Ryan

Sorry your having an issue, can you confirm your OS spec?

Hi, Simon - Windows 7 Home Premium x64, 4GB RAM, plenty of free storage.
The Xpand!2 installer, application and .big file all automatically install as separate items in the c:/program files folder. The authorizer installs to the c:/program files (x86) folder. -
-
Simon, anybody? Any tips or suggestions to get the authorizer running?
Cheers! -

Hi
I have the exact same issue, no way to authorize Xpand2 and therefore no way to use it so far.
I am a Mac user, OS X 10.10.1.
The app bounces but doesn't launch. I have tried to delete and reinstall the whole app package but doesn't change anything.
Any tips? ideas?
Thanks -

Hello everyone,
We can help you out. First, read and go through this AIR Software Authorization - FAQ and Troubleshooting guide to help. If that still doesn't help you out, then please contact our technical support team to assist you with your authorization. Simply log onto http://www.airmusictech.com/support to contact support.
Let me know if you have any questions! -
-
Thanks, Chris - the troubleshooter depends upon the authorizer launching, so I've contacted support instead, as recommended.

Ryan,
Would please let me know when you have an answer? i have some trouble finding Xpand in the software list when writing to the support team. I would really appreciate! This is the first time I ever deal with this kind of software :)
Maybe I missed something. -
-
Hello, please try a re-install of both Xpand!2 and the Pace License Manager if this is on your system.
-
-
Ghita - Xpand2 isn't in the list but I was able to complete the form without identifying a product - I just copied some of the detail from this thread. I'm about to do what Simon suggests and will report back.

Ok thanks Ryan!!!
@Simon, I have tried reinstallation. I have nothing called pace license manager in my computer.
My OS is a yosemite one since last apple update. Maybe there is some issues with this last OS. -
-
Ghita - look out for a program called "iLok", which is the license manager (Pace is the company name).
Simon - have tried a re-install with the same unsuccessful result. Very frustrating, but hopefully we'll get there! -
-
Hey, Ghita - you got this sorted? If not, let me know as I think I have it cracked with some help from tech support.....
-
-
Hey Ryan,
Thank you for your message! Unfortunately, there is no way to launch the expand authorizer on my laptop so far.
If you can help me out with this, i would really appreciate it!
I am using a Macbook by the way! -
-
Ghita - I've got this loaded on a Windows 7 machine, but it's possibly the same problem.... It seems that we've actually run the installer already, which means it can't be run again.
Before getting Xpand I downloaded Ezdrummer2, which automatically created a "VstPlugins" folder in my Program folders. Ableton is set to look for all Plugins in that folder. The problem was that Xpand installed to a different location, so Ableton can't see it.
The first thing to do is find where all your Xpand files downloaded to. If you have any Plugins already installed and working in Ableton, move all Xpand files to the same location and rescan for plugins in Ableton ("Options/Preferences/File Folder", then hit "rescan").
If you've no other plugins, check the same Options in Ableton to see where it's looking for plugins. Then move Xpand files to that location and turn off the Ableton option to "Use VST Plug-In Custom Folder" (or just turn that off and browse to where your Xpand files are).
Hopefully this makes sense - let me know how you get on. -

Exact same problem here. I get copyright and all, but why OH why can I not run the authorize tool more than once? no message, no info on the Xpand!2 web site. What a bunch of buggy junk.
Unlike the other users here, I'm not waiting for this to play out over weeks and months. Back to the store it goes ... -
-
Alex - if it's the same problem I had then it's an easy fix. It was actually my user error in not installing Xpand to where the DAW would automatically see them - no need to run the authorizer more than once, and it won't do any good anyway.
Did you get it with an Alesis V series controller, including Ableton Live Lite 9? If so, seems a bit extreme to bring the controller back because a bundled add-on won't run without moving some files around.... Have a go at what I recommended above - it's definitely not a bunch of buggy junk! -
-
Hello everyone,
As Simon posted above, if you're still having issues, please re-install Xpand!2 and the Pace License Manager. If you need assistance on re-installing the Pace License Manager, watch this helpful YouTube video HERE. -
-
I have the same problem on Windows 7. Really bored of install, uninstall, reinstall, PACE delete PACE.... it seems a joke.
I think that you have no idea about solving this issue. Wasted money. -
-
I also had the same problem on Win7 (64 bit), i uinstalled and installed Xpand!2 many times. But the authorizer didn't run and Ableton Live Lite didn't find the plugin.
The german support gave me an interesting hint: "If you can't run the authorizer, the plugin still is authorized."
I moved Xpand!2_x64.dll to another folder and set this folder as the plugin-folder in Live and rescanned. Now i got an error message:
Initialization Error - "This software requires a new version of the InterLok(R) device drivers and a reboot before running. ..."
On paceap.com under Support there's a link to "iLok License Manager & License Support Installer" (https://www.ilok.com/#!license-manager). I downloaded LicenseSupportInstallerWin64.zip (left-hand on top of the page - "iLok License Manager - Free Download - License Support"). After unzipping i installed "Drivers Only Win64" (it's in the folder \Extras). After rebooting my system und rescanning for plugins Live finally found Xpand!2.
I moved the plugin back to the actual plugin-folder and afer another rescan, all my plugins are available in Live.
I hope this will help you.- view 1 more comment

Hi Alex,

I owe you big time <3

Hi all,
I have the same problems that you all are having, except just with Studio One 2. I got Xpand!2 to show up in Ableton Live Lite (which came with my VI49 keyboard I bought) and it is fully functional within Ableton...just not Studio One 2. Both Studio One 2 and Ableton point to the same VST folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\VstPlugins\. I've gone through with the authorization of Xpand!2, so no need to do that again, and I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times with no luck on it coming up in Studio One 2. I've even tried both 32bit and 64bit versions of Studio One 2, with each pointing to the correct VST folder with the correct Xpand!2 dll's in them.
I'm running Windows 8.1 with Studio One 2.6. Any help? Thanks!- view 4 more comments

Dirk,
Thanks so much for the reply! It worked like a charm! I'm not sure why placing it in the "Program Files (x86)/Vstplugins" didn't work and placing it in the "Program Files/Vstplugins" did, but I'm very thankful for your help! I can now use what I paid for! Cheers! :) -
-
Glad I could help :) The (x86) location is for 32bit plugins. Studio One 2(x64) only acknowledges 64bit plugins even if you're running it in 32bit mode. Something to remember if you acquire more vst's! Enjoy!
