"Software Component Unavailable" when trying to authorize Xpand!2 in iLok License Manager

Hi!
I'm trying to play with my new midi keyboard, but after 2 hours trying your crappy anti-piracy system Xpand 2 it's not working and I had enought.

Software Component Unavailable
A background component required for iLok License Manager seems to be unavailable. If rebooting does not fix this issue, please visit iLok.com and download and run the latest License Support installer.

It's the message i get when trying to launch iLok License manager.

I'm using Windows 7. And I installed ilok like 5 times, the last version of course.

If I go to Services, the service is not running. If I try to initiate it manually:

Windows couldn't initiate service...
Error 1053: Service didn't respond on time...

If I configure: Automatic (Delayed start) does not solve the problem.

We are in 2016. We learnt that this kind of anti-piracy measures success in nothing more than annoy legal user. I thought that everyone got the message, but It seems that It's not the case of Airmusictech.

There is any solution to my problem? Because the license is already payed.

  • Hi David,

I’m sorry to hear you are having issues with the iLok License Manager on Windows. It seems like the iLok Service isn’t running properly.

Below are a list of steps to follow to ensure this service is running properly:

1a) Previous to Windows 8: Select Control Panel from the Windows Start button.

    2) Select System and Security.

    3) Select Administrative Tools.

    4) Select Services.

    5) Look for the service called PACE License Services and review its Status.

6a) If the status is STARTED or RUNNING, PACE License Services is verified as functioning properly.

6b) If the status is anything else, proceed with the next step.

    7) Right-click PACE License Services from the Services list and choose Start from the pop-up menu.

8a) If the status now indicates STARTED or RUNNING, PACE License Services is now functioning properly.

8b) If the status indicates anything else, or the service refuses to start, proceed with the following section:

PACE License Services Starts Manually but Not Automatically On Windows Startup:

    1) Follow steps 1 through 5 above.

    2) Right-click PACE License Services from the Services list and choose Properties from the pop-up menu.

    3) On the General tab, change the Startup type to Automatic (if not already) and restart Windows.

    4) Launch iLok License Manager to confirm no error messages are displayed on its launch.

5a) If no error messages are displayed, the issue is resolved.

5b) If error messages are displayed, proceed with the next step.

    6) Quit iLok License Manager.

    7) Right-click PACE License Services from the Services list and choose Properties from the pop-up menu.

    8) On the General tab, change the Startup type from Automatic to Automatic (delayed start) and restart Windows.

    9) After a five minute wait, launch iLok License Manager to confirm no error messages are displayed on its launch.

10a) If no error messages are displayed, the issue is resolved.

10b) If error messages are displayed, you can visit this link to submit a support ticket with iLok --> www.ilok.com/#!support.
