[MPC Live] What's the best way to do Patched Phrase style editing when your sample is less than 1 bar?

So I have some rhythmic samples that are less than 1-bar length. I want to speed them up so that they match my project tempo, without warping (I don't want artifacts from time stretching).

Patched Phrase seems like exactly what I want, but it doesn't work because the sample length is less than 1 bar. Patched Phrase only allows increments of 1 bar from what I understand.

Am I missing something? What's the best/fastest way to do this?

  • Hey audiofile,

    Thanks for posting!

The Patched Phrase function is definitely an effective way of fitting samples into sequences with different tempos without warping the sample itself. As you stated above, the Patched Phrase function will only render to a minimum of 1 bar. There is not a workaround to process samples in increments smaller than 1 bar into a Patched Phrase.

Some things you can try might be doubling your sample length and finding a way to cut it to one bar so that it still works within the context of your project or adding empty space to the end of your sample to increase its length to one bar and then processing Patch Phrase.
