.REX Files Suddenly Not Working

I bought my mpc studio about two months ago and updated the software and firmware right away. Everything has worked fine since then until about a week ago. Now suddenly it does not want to play .rex files anymore. This is occurring on both my macbook and my imac, making me think it might be a problem with the hardware? HELP!

    Sorry to hear you're having trouble!

    What happens when you try to load a REX file? Does it appear to load but not play?

    Anything you can recall happened around that time? Other software installed, etc?

    The MPC Studio itself is just a controller and doesn't process any of the samples, so I can't see how it could be the cause here. It would more likely be software related. If it's happening on two computers, then it would point us to the REX files themselves.

    Let's look for some constants here. Are the samples on an external hard drive? If so, is this drive the same one you're using on both the iMac and Macbook?

    If so, then it might actually be a corrupt sector on the hard drive or corrupt REX files. Just guessing at this point. A quick troubleshooting step for this would be downloading or creating a brand new REX file. If that works/imports, then we've basically confirmed those files just may be corrupt.

    Let's try to narrow down the cause here and I'm sure we'll figure it out!

    It does shows the samples in the browser window, but they will not play with autoplay, and they also will not play when loaded onto a pad.

    The samples are actually stored on the internal drives of each computer. I've tried .rex samples from both the included mpc loop library, and from other sample packs I have purchased.

    The only thing I can think of that changed recently was I installed Propellerhead's Recycle on my macbook, but it has already been installed on my imac for a while, but both computers stopped playing the files within a day or two of each other.

  • Hmmm... Would you be able to provide a couple of the REX files? (via Dropbox, etc...)
