Ableton + Push + MPK 249

Noobe Question: if I only have two USB ports on my 15" MBP, is it possible to connect both my MPK249 and push through one USB (using the MPK249 USB-In) and having my interface connected to the other.

If this is a stupid set-up please advise what your best advice is how to do this correctly.

Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Ryan,

    Thanks for posting!

I'm not sure what you mean by USB-in on the MPK249. There's only one USB port and it's only for connecting the unit directly to a computer.

Your best bet may be to use a powered-USB hub for the MPK and Push. Depending on your computer and the USB hub you get this can varying results, so we don't normally recommend doing this if you can avoid it.

The next option is to use a Midi input on your interface (if it has one) for the MPK249. You will have to go into your edit menus and make sure that MIDI to DIN is turned on for all of your parameters, or select the preset "Midi Out," but it should work just fine!

    Hope this helps!

Is there any loss of functionality using MIDI when compared to USB for the MPK249?
