Advance arp

Is there a secret to getting the arpeggiator to work on my akai advance 49
? I load a sound, like a simple lead or something, press the arp button which lights up, hold a chord.............nothing??? Is it a setting or something, I'm baffled

  • I'll check this out when I get home but mine works perfectly - doing just as you say.

  • ive found out what is happening- i had clock source set to external ( because thats how it has to be for controlling ableton transport etc. ) so if i set the clock source to internal the arpeggiator works

    just need to solve the constant non responding vip software - (always takes me 5 or 6 goes at launching it to get it to open and link with the keyboard}

and the hanging notes that frequently mean I have to turn off the software and restart- then Ill be up and running!!!!

thanks for the reply- better than Akai support- I think we`re just left to sort it out ourselves

  • Hi Chris.

    Glad you're sorted. re. arp

Are you on Windows or Mac?

I only have trouble starting after a (thankfully rare) crash. Then I usually have to reboot the comp.

I've experienced hanging notes once or twice. Solved these by swapping to a patch from a different plugin. A panic button (which I may have missed) would be a good feature request as it doesn't take a lot for a MIDI off to be missed.

I'm not sure of the Support time zone. I have to admit, I've had some rapid answers from Dan.

  • Hi Chris,

Have you seen the Ableton Live setup guide yet?

    http://www.akaipro.com/kb/article/1852

Among other things, it covers synchronizing Live with the Advance arp. Like any MIDI controller with an arp, when you set the controller to external clock, it will not play unless it is receiving MIDI clock from somewhere (Live in this case). This guide walks you through that.

As far as the connection issues with VIP, the support team had contacted you. You can respond to their email with a good time to chat and I'm sure they'll sort it out!

    Thanks! :)

  • Regarding my comment on the VIP software not connecting to the advance. I spoke to support who where mighty helpful but confused with my predicament , but just in passing did recommend I try another USB cable, well I have to confess and make a recommendation to all other users............................. .........................dont use a USB Hub!!!! plug it straight into the pc, it works perfect

thanks- still the odd hanging notes though!!
