AKAI Advance MK II in 2018 ???

Do AKAI Advance MKII released in 2018 ? Because I'm holding up my decision to buy NI Komplete Kontrol MKII and waiting for AKAI Advance MKII. Looking for a new Advance VIP controller from AKAI ! Thankyou :)

  • Feature Requests for a Mk2 edition:

    - Longer keys (like the NI KK Mk2, like Roland and Kurzweil, even a bit longer like Novation and your own MAudio). Why does Akai make the shortest keys? They don't respond well in the top 1" of the keybed, particularly the black notes.

    - Smaller (still awesome) knobs and pads, closer together, that don't extend (on the Advance 61) so far to the right. Looks cool, but not terribly practical. Trying to play right handed chords or keyboard figures and extending one's left hand WAYYY over to the right is exceedingly awkward. Better: Put the knobs in the center (like NI KK Mk2) under the much larger centered, color display.

    - Larger, centered color display. And have color display for Knobs, etc. mirror the knobs, etc. i.e. if 8 knobs in a row, have the color display bid/wide enough to show 8x1, vs. 4x2.

    - Pads in 2 (or 3) rows for easier pad-drumming. (Then 2nd row of smaller buttons for Solo/Mute, instead of the huge pads).

    - Please leave SPACE on the keyboard (far right and/or far left) for other gear (i.e. audio interface or Fader controller to sit). Better yet:

    - Faders/Sliders! Please!

    - Broader DAW integration. (Samplitude, for example).

    - Mackie Control

    - Multi's to transmit to multiple outputs to DAW. This is a big deal!

    - Stop Crashing!

    - Increment/Decrement buttons - for Next patch, without having to PUSH Enter for each patch change.

    - More intuitive controls. The 2 buttons plus 4-way buttons, plus push encoder are confusing! Come up with a simpler approach. Having the encoder closer to the musician (lower up the keyboard for easier reach) is also better placement.

    - Hundreds of custom maps were made 3+ years ago. Why did development stop? How about keeping making custom maps and catch up to current VSTs and VSTi's.

Whew! I want to buy THAT keyboard!!

  • The touchscreen and knobs with scribble strips from the MPC X (but for programming VST's) might get me to want an Advance 2. Imagine being able to pull up the VST's themselves on the touchscreen and assign the knobs and buttons on the fly to whatever parameters you touch. 16 knobs with scribble strips would be good.

Otherwise I'd probably be happier with continued further development of the existing platform.

  • Not sure this is ever happening. With all the competition out there with controllers; making a new Advance, unless it support natively mackie, CC and all the other control surface methods out there, would be crushed by the lead brands.

The MPK is probably where they invest most of their money at this point, considering they are very customizable and appeal to finger drummers that see a keyboard as something that takes space.
