I use the MPC Headphones with my Renaissance and I like them. They aren't THE best headphones out there but then you are looking at a price point too... I only paid I think $89 for them new. The real treat is they are well designed and packaged. Collapsable with a black zippered pack to store or carry them. They come with two cables for input into the MPC (or whatever). They seem cleaner for the most part sometimes I think the highs/treble level response could be better as I have heard them peak and crack unable to handle the amount of highs being put through them a few times while producing. The bass response is adequate. I wouldn't pay the $299 price tag I've seen in some places for them. But for $89 they are a steal.

That being said... Would I buy them again? Yes! They are comfortable, adjustable and closed back / noise canceling headphones. They do the job for me. Are they Studio Quality Headphones? I really am not sure how they would stack up to more expensive headphones. I have the Akai RPM 500 Studio Monitors and yet still use the headphones the most during production only to use the Monitors as a reference between the two.

Okay... That was longer worded then I thought. I hope it makes some sense and helps.

  • It helps very much tranceshifter so thanks for your time. I would use mostly headphones for production and mix down and considered and may still opt for akg712 but 60% of what I use now is akai product. So far I haven't felt cheated (get for what I pay) and thought I would check for akai range for this type of gear.

Thanks again for your time and comments.
