an update after several years of advance 49 ownership

I gave up using VIP with my advance 49.
it was supposed to increase my productivity. it didn't.
wouldn't load maps, and for others the maps simply weren't there, and mapping was extremely cumbersome.

I've gone back to what I was doing before, but using the controls on the advance49.

best part is that the controls on the advance can be directly set to color/note/cc/channel
that is the only advantage to having it. otherwise it's just like any other generic midi keyboard.

  • I have since bought Native-Instruments komplete software not hardware. (although I should have)
instead of using VIP, I've made racks in Ableton live and mapped the pads to change the chain selector, and the knobs to the macro knobs in Ableton racks.
    much more reliable.

    shame VIP has been abandoned.
last I saw of it, was you selling it openly to just try and make a penny from the disaster it is.

  • Hey Rick,

    Thanks for posting!

I'm sorry to hear that you were having difficulty with the VIP Software. Depending on the plugins you are using, there may not be a map automatically available. I understand that this can be daunting for larger plugins with extensive preset libraries. It does take a fair amount of programming.

I'm glad to hear that you were able to find a solution that better suits your production style. I'd be happy to relay your comments and concerns to the development team for further consideration!

Let me know if you have any questions.
