I’m Frustrated

Analog audio output cannot route program to 1 and 2

. I am a new owner of mpc x and mpc in general. This is also my first post in here. Really enjoying the mpc so far and have re-started my interest for making music again, not just listening. :)

My question is; do the mpc X have 6 or 8 analog 1/4 jack mono outputs? On the FAQ on akai.com it is clearly stated that mpc x has 8 analog audio outputs. When I try to route the different programs in mpc x to output 1-8, this works perfectly for all channels except output 1 and 2. On the back output 1 and 2 are clearly labeled as Main L+R. It is stated in the mpc x user manual that programs can be routed to 1 and 2 which is routing to L+R. Since there actually is a routing option to output 1 and 2, there should be 8 separate working analog outputs?

I think maybe I must be missing something obvious here, or? I have not been able to find any information that address this topic specifically, but if this is covered elsewhere I do apologize.

The setup I am building is:
MPC X outputs to analog mixer Mackie1604VLZ4
Effects through the analog mixer aux send return.

So it does matter whether it is 6 or 8 channels.

Any advice, help, or just pointing me in the right direction will be much appreciated.

Regards
Jon

Its a fairly common set-up. 1 and 2 are the main outputs, or, more helpfully, often called the mix outputs .
So 1 and 2 are fed from the internal mixer with whatever is not being sent to a direct, unmixed output (3/8 in this case.)
If you want to use 1 and 2 as individual outputs you can simply pan hard left anf right the 2 channels that you want to assign there.
    Hope this helps!

  • Thanks Christian, that makes a lot of sense. I have now done this like you advice but one issue remains. Programs 3-8 are now routed to 6 separate channels on the analog mixer (as before). Program 1 and 2 are both left «remaining» routed to 1,2.

The sound from 1,2 is being heared through the active speakers that are conected to the L+R/ 1,2 output. However the issue arises when I try to conect this ouput directly to the analog mixer; there is absolutely no sound through the channels on the mixer for 1,2. I think there might be a cabling issue? The spec/ requirement from akai is std TRS jack 1/4 so it should not be it. I have tried several different cables. I have also tried the paning but ut has no effect.

    I will keep on trying
