Another MPC500 noise problem.

Bought an MPC500 second hand from a friend. It has an irritating whining noise that is slightly mitigated when master volume is set at 2-3 o clock. Doing a few weeks of research online on what could be the problem I see there are lots of message board comments everywhere with people experiencing the exact same problem. Comments include that some were like this brand new out of the box and had to exchange them 2 or 3 times before they got a good one, so I’m ruling out that this might be due to age of components that need replaced.

I see there is a thread about this same problem not far below. Not trying to be rude but with everything I’ve read it’s hard for me to believe Akai has never known about this problem. Is there a fix?

I would just like to know if there is anything that could be done to remedy this. Not asking for Akai to warranty a 12 year old product I’m just desperately hoping somebody from Akai can throw us DIYers a bone so we can actually enjoy this product a little more.

  • Hey lamalta129,

    Thanks for posting!

As you know, the MPC500 is a legacy product and as a result, support for this hardware is limited. If you are experiencing some trouble with the audio output, it sounds like it needs to be serviced. Warranty and non-warranty claims are not handled here on the forum, but I can point you in the right direction! Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the Akai Pro Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu.

    • For quicker support, call your nearest Support Office or International Distributor.

Make sure to reference or link this thread to help out the support team.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.
