BETTER VOCAL RECORDING FEATURES... ex; punch in, multi-takes, stacking

Greetings & good day,

I would genuinely like to know when you guys are going to add a better vocal recording feature?
Why can't I punch vocals in on the fly?
Like why would I interrupt my guitarist/singer? "Yo your thirty seconds are over, do it again..
I want to be able to record+see+edit my vocals/audio all in one track.
I should be able to record my artist as the beat loops around in real time.

It's never going to be a full fledged daw until that over looked discrepancy is remedied. As a renaissance user, I'm not sold on the future of AKAI...
I don't want to go and buy Fruity Loops/Pro-Tools to go and do something that I should be able to do w/ the $1300 CAD Renaissance I bought back in 2015. As a consumer, I feel alienated, like do y'all think about me?

Its bad enough, and in fact insulting I have to buy a $100 update... btw, like give me what i want in a "new and vastly improved" vocal/audio recording feature and I'll buy. If that's not included in the 2.0 update that's a problem for me, and you wont see $$$ from me. I want the MPC X, but I'm not about to be disappointed again.

How do you expect me to justify a $2,000 purchase when I can't even record the vocals for the melody I'ma build at length? When I'm in the zone, i don't have limitations... I flow and I go, but not having this feature is holding me back.

Is this a patent issue? or a hardward limitation?... because if it isn't, y'all need to step up to the plate on this & deliver.
All users (producers & artists) will appreciate this request.

Come on y'all, this is gut check time.
Who else agrees?

  • Hey Edward,

    Thanks for posting!

I'm happy to hear you've got some feedback regarding audio recording. Keep in mind that this hardware presents the first instance of the ability to record an audio track directly to the hardware. I will be happy to submit this to the Akai team for you for consideration in a future update. Many of the features you have mentioned are also of interest to me and I too would like to see them implemented in a future update.

    Thank you for your feedback!

    Hey Nick D,

Your absolutely right my dude, in all reality you guys are actually forging away in the new frontier of this market. I forget that a lot of what happens in the industry, doesn't happen until AKAI's built it. #FACTS

I'm super understanding, I'm just hungry for features that extend the life of the brand, & the enjoyment of the overall user experience... like it'd be mad fun to crank out a demo on the fly.

Thank you for posting this! I feel the same way. I just spent madd cake on mpc this and 2.0 that, and now your telling me I havta learn PRO TOOLS 12 because the 2.0 that everyone was waiting for the "DAW" only has tape recorder tech behind it. C'mon man. This hasta be an easy fix. Better punch in capabilities, better vocal editing. And if you cant do it... just tell me so I switch to a new workflow and stop wasting my time with you creating on the fly. And why in the world would you make a keyboard (MK249) that cannot control the mix window in MPC 2.0??? Ok, I know weed is legal now.. but ya'll gotta stop smokin it on the job. Akai.... do better...please.
    • Hey Reynolds,

You can use punch-in recording on an audio track by opening the Location menu in your audio track (Bar/Beat/Tick) and selecting the IN icon in the Auto Record section and setting the Punch In and Punch Out locations. With these settings enabled, only the selected location on a track can be recorded over.

You can also map parameters in the mix window in MPC 2. In order to do this, open the MIDI Learn menu, select Project (rather than Global), add the number of controllers you want to map, select the parameter in the Target column in the MIDI Learn menu, and map the controllers.

Say for instance, you wanted to map the eight faders on an MPK249 to eight audio tracks in MPC. You would add eight parameters in the MIDI Learn menu, select Audio Track > [Audio Track name] and Mixer > Volume in the adjacent field, then move the fader on the MPK to learn it to that parameter. Repeat this process for the seven remaining faders and the audio tracks' volume controls will be mapped to the MPK.

      Hope that helps!
    • I’ve used the midi learn with a control surface to map faders to mix window faders and it works alright. The only issue is that when I export the midi map, and try to reload it, I get an error message so I have to remap every time I reopen the software. That’s a bug
