Care guide EWI 5000.

I miss care instructions. I found nothing in both guides provided. How should I clean it? Should mouthpiece/sensor be cleaned? How? Shouldn't saliva and moisture be removed/cleaned?

  • Hi Marcin,

    Thanks for posting!

Here are a few suggestions for you. Hope this helps.

    • Clean the EWI 5000 by wiping the unit with a soft, non- abrasive cloth, such as the cloth that came with the EWI 5000 or a soft cotton cloth.

    • Mouthpieces can be removed with a Philips #00 screwdriver. These can be cleaned with mild, non-lotion, clean-rinsing soap (such as dish detergent) and a small brush such as a pipe cleaner or baby bottle brush, or even a cotton swab.

    • The internals of the instrument should be maintenance free as long as you take care of the instrument just as any other wind instrument-- avoiding food or sugary drinks immediately before playing. If this can't be avoided, then a small amount of water to rinse your mouth before playing.

  • Please point me to good EWI 5000 power/charging/USB hygiene. I "think" I let mine drop below the fail-safe and it froze. I had to send it to the factory for repair. I guess the instrument must have ended up with fried firmware or something. Is it true that it is necessary to unplug the battery when leaving the instrument unused (stored) for any length of time?
