Consecutively triggered samples from the same pad?

On the MPX8, is it possible to strike a trigger multiple times to allow consecutive samples to fire rather than canceling and restarting the sample? If not, can the firmware be updated to allow it (Please, Akai!)

  • Hi Bryan,

    Thanks for posting.

Currently, the MPX8 will stop the currently playing sample and start playing the next to one the next time you play the pad. You can always spread the sample out across multiple pads if you need them to continue playing or loop when triggering a second instance. I'll be happy to add a feature request for you though!

  • I thought of assigning the same sample to multiple pads after I posted, but that would make my setup more complex than I prefer. I incorporated the MPX8 into my acoustic drum setup and like to trigger samples with my stick so that samples are "seamless," which requires that I use a larger Roland PD-6 trigger. I could just use a longer sample for what I am using but timing becomes an issue. If the same pad could be used to trigger multiple instances of (overlapping) samples, that would be preferred. I used to own a Roland SPD-S, but it was a pain to try to fit in to my setup at smaller venues, but this would allow multiple instances of the same sample on one pad. I would REALLY appreciate this being added in a future update! Thanks!!
