Double Triggers on MPC X

I posted this before but it was merged. I would like to bring it up again. My MPC X (and a few others i tested, including a MPC Live) often double (or even triple or more) trigger.

It is especially noticable in sample edit mode:

  • Noticed the same when creating beats on my MPC Live. Coming from Maschine where you have to hit pretty hard and new to MPCs, I thought it was due to my playing.

  • Hey MeProd,

    Thanks for posting!

I recall you were having some difficulty with your hardware and we had gotten you in touch with our technical support team for troubleshooting and if necessary, to coordinate service. If you're still having some difficulty with the hardware, please reach out to the representative with whom you were working and they will be happy to help you!

@oli@bass - if you determine that you are also having difficulty with the hardware, please get in touch with technical support for additional assistance. Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Technical Support inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the Akai Pro Support Page. Select Technical Support from the drop down menu.

    or

    • For quicker support, call your nearest Support Office or International Distributor.

Make sure to reference or link this thread to help out the support team.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • Hi Nick, well it was a confusing contact in january and later asked him to get back to me in February but no reply so far. So if you can help me get in touch i would appreciate that.

  • We seemed to have delayed response triggers on MPC pads in comparison to
triggering notes on a keyboard. But it appeared what we have been hearing as
wobble/double trigger sounds, was an Aftertouch setting in the (very last corner
of the) "Program Edit" mode ("CONTROLLER MOD" / "AFT-FLT") Filter).
After putting the knob settings "AFT-FLT" (Aftertouch to Filter) down to zero, the
audible delay was gone. Double notes just have been "interactive" filter settings
which sounded like false triggered notes (strange but true).

Aftertouch must be magic, but we honestly hope for an option to switch it off in
the MPCs. Speaking for ourselves, that technic didn't express our sound much
but actually stopped us from creating more magic (when solving sound issues).

Thoughtful thoughts: Aftertouch wasn't there on a LinnDrum, let us switch it off.

    • Ok thanks, i'll find it. (I rarely use the software, mostly work standalone)
    • Having a glance at the software might be helpful. At present, setting up templates
for external Midi control seem just be very easy via the software. But on the other
hand, running the step-sequencer via the software (there's none) ..is no joy at all.

  • Seems to be a problem on all devices, from MPD to Mpc Live / x. Maybe not on all units, but definitely quite some people have issues with double triggers.

When I had the MPD 226 that I used to control some software, I found a work-around by filtering out the lowest velocities of the MPD pads in Logic or Ableton. Completely gone was the double-triggering!!

So, the only thing AKAI needs to do, is after all these years just give us the option to filter out the lowest velocities of the pads (pad settings, not a 'after-recording' midi plugin.

The actual threshold and sensitivity settings simply don't work to get rid of all the double triggering of the MPD's and MPC's.

With threshold 16 and sensitivity 2 most of DT is gone, but unfortunately not all.
The only way is to filter out the lowest velocities...
