I’m frustraed

Enough is enough.. Let’s post on twitter.

Let’s face it: AKAI are terrible at listening to users, and they are NOT going to fix the MPC unless we make them.

I’ve started posting about it on twitter. Doing this in public, in front of our fans and followers might just cause them enough shame that they will fix the basic things we need fixed.

I’m @illgatesmusic on twitter. Let’s do this.

kid I am not sure what you want to achieve but please do the same for all other companies like NI, Elektron, etc.
But I don’t think that a childish shit storm really will help
    lol
Post scriptum: Put your critics in clear letters otherwise you not much clever and more a consumer without brain

Sometimes it pays to listen before you act. State your case and listen, react intelligently, try to resolve the issue and be relentless with questions and follow though with the rep's suggestions and solutions. No one wins if one destroys or tries to the other's reputation or business. What they learn from you and others will help them produce a better user manual and a better product. No manufacturing Company is perfect as is no consumer. We are in this together.

  • All I want is proper midi routing like the old mpcs. I’m not alone.

  • The new hardware are great products, for some it does all they need and happy with what they are given, for others who are used to limited 80’s and 90’s hardware where you don’t expect updates because memory or cpu limits would not permit they have no expectations for new features. But for others who have a different workflow and bought an mpc x with two midi inputs yet they can’t really use it as the center of their hardware setup because of lack of midi routing that was in older devices, it’s frustrating and their new hardware is sitting on the side collecting dust and they are forced to use their old machines, as a software developer I see it as not a hard feature to implement, the only ball-ache if having to implement it in the MPC software also and make it available across all the mpc controllers and devices. As there is neither any reply or action from Akai about this despite numerous attempts at “grown up” direct request over a long period of time, you do whatever you need to do to get listened to mr gates. Akai will make more money of existing product with simple feature updates, as more people will be on YouTube showing how their MPC is center of their GAS season studio setup, they are missing a trick here

  • I am not sure what’s your problem.

For a lot people it is working ...

If you want to make an request of change or a bug request you need to do that inside the MPC software.

But again be aware that you need to put a clear example in regards of your setting and what you want to achieve.

That’s simple and I am working on a daily base in big environments with developers together.

In regards of the method to use like Agile development that’s a different point ...

You blackmailing / shit storm attitude is very childish.

And I don’t no any professional who is older than 25 is on that road. You are hopefully an adult so you need to take also responsibilities for your purchase as a customer. Have a look inside other music gear ...

So if you buy something test it that mostly the way to discover problems ...

I know it’s not easy but that’s how the world works.

Use your consumer protection if available and give the gear back ... and if you software developer let me know what software works 100%. Every change can be a change of other code to that’s why we have beta testing.

A point which is missing by AKAI that’s for sure ...
    • You don’t know Ill gates man? His efforts just might get some of these things fast tracked lol!

Look I kind of get where you are coming from but I had the Live since launch in 2017. That’s a long wait for something that has been basic functionality for literally every other mpc! Akai has been hammered by power users over this. Why is it taking so long? And it won’t be in 2.6 either.

I would not go as far to say Akai isn’t listening because they have. However, not addressing this by now is messed up imo
    • indeed, not addressing by now something that was advertised on the BOX (2GB memory, iconic workflow, compability with older AKAI/MPC programs) is mssd up

But gates you should really be on the gearslutz thread where dan gill from Akai posts frequently. You can even PM him.

If you get some twitter warriors on board it’s sure to get Pete goodcliffes attention. But multi timbral midi input is expected

  • Hey Im sorry to Offend Anyone...but...

I assumed Multitimburality was the ability to control several Midi Devices. I thought the MPC X/Live were able to do that.

I hear a lot of complaints about the Live/X not able to be controlled by several different controllers at the same time. To Be Slaved by other controllers? I don't see a Logical scenario.
Multiple Controllers triggering separate Tracks on the MPC?
A Piano Player on One Track? Another guy Triggering Drums on another Track?
Someone triggering a Horn on another Track?
    All At Same Time?
That seems like a Heavy BottleNeck Scenario!
I think that situation would be cheaper if you bought separate sound Modules and a Good Mixer.

Please can someone Explain the Benefit of Multitimburality on the Input of the Live/X?

  • Hey ill.GATES,

    Thanks for posting!

As some of the guys addressed above, the Forum as well as the MPC Feedback Module are the most direct way to submit requests to the development team. If a feature has not yet been implemented, it's not an indication that it's being ignored. Product development is a complex process and involves a lot of consideration and input from the community.

If you have been vocal through these avenues before, then I guarantee you that your request has been considered and who knows, maybe already in the works! I think it's great that you are passionate about the future of the equipment just make sure to direct it in the proper channels.

I'll forward your request to the team for further consideration. Let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you for the detailed response! I've relayed your comments to the team for further consideration. If you have any questions please let me know!
    • Great.

When can we expect the next update?

Will it address any of the concerns I mentioned?

  • You guys are gonna make Akai really shut Sh*t down LMAO.

At the end of the day, the Employees are just that...Employees. Messengers. I seriously doubt Eliza and the rest of them have ANY input or sayso on what new features they should add or fix. Akai can care less about what Gripes we go on & on about. Only thing they listen to is a Spreadsheet of ALL the Request, Bugs, Fixes, etc provided to them by Eliza and the other employees. Eliza and them are here to keep us on Ice best way possible!
After sittin back lookin at everyones Requests, Displeasures, etc. Its getting Redundant. I can Guarantee when 2.6 3.0 whatever its called, drops, there will continuous Complaints.
That's why I predict a new Model comin soon. That should address some or most of our present complaints and bugs.
Imagine them continuously updating the MPC2000XL lol. There would be no Live/X, 4000 5000 etc. Gotta make room for the Next Innovation
    • Yeah but the 2000 was the ONLY MPC model for years. It was a stable, rock solid sequencer/sampler that you could trust. It wasn't until the DAW explosion that we saw the rest of them and even between the 500/1000/2500/4000/5000 there are a world of differences.

The hardware now is a pretty good update to the MPC line. Id rather they stick with it and get a solid mature platform they can expand on until its full like they did with the 2000/3000/60 before it (Maybe a little more than the measly 2GB of ram if you're going to include audio track playback). People dont need 10 different products over 10 years. Give us ONE stable piece of gear that will last like a damn Craftsman drill we can get our work done on. Put out those ugly LE editions in that gross orange and red so people can feel different when they buy one 5 years after everybody else. We'll gladly buy the software updates for new features IF they can squeeze em in. Just do what you did when the 2000 was the king of the block.

I think the big problem is the DAW integration. It plagued the 4000 too trying to be an all in one machine. The strength in the MPC was its sequencer you could use to tie all of your other gear together. I just want my computer to be my tape deck, I got the MPC to get me away from that and put me back where Im comfy.

Perhaps not a surprise, but when I comment on Akai’s official FB pointing out the failure to deliver the product that was advertised, they make my comments invisible.

So basically you can complain all you want, they really don’t care. And they would like to hide their false marketing from potential customers.

I suspect something is truly wrong. I don’t feel confident we are going to get an update in July. All the signs are that Force is not a supported product.
