Force needs Midimultimode

In the way elektron does it in their mashines - you can choose the inputchannel
1-16 or set to autochannel

  • Yes you can do this. Go to the matrix view and double tap on the top of the lanes label. It will open a lane preferences area which allows you to change the midi channel for that lane. I haven’t tried this with an external device yet but I did try this last night with a plugin lane and it works. You can also change the lanes transpose from here as well.

  • The behavior of the Force with the external device(s) is really the big question, ie. external keyboard... ideally a keyboard set up with a split could send midi/live play different plugins simultaneously.

The Live/X/Desktop all just merge any channel(s) into one, and you can only "live play" the the currently selected track (albeit plugin, drums or midi).

The Live/X/Desktop have this midi setting, but my understanding is that it only applies to plugin tracks for 'outgoing' midi, and is only for plugins which recognize different multiple channels.

  • I have an old triton studio I will try setting it up tonight and creating a keyboard split to see if I can trigger plugins on the force. I understand why you want to know this... I’m surprised that some of our hardware centric brothers and sisters haven’t chimed in on this I know they bought this thing and I know y’all have already mastered it in like a day. Lol!!

  • I tried to set up different midichannels but it didnt work. Of course,
i could change the channel (but only on plugin-tracks) by double tap on the top of the lane, but the force didnt react on different channels.
it always plays and records just the selected track...

to make it more clear what i mean with midimultimode:

i want the force to play and record more than one track in once,
and i want the ability to set for every track a different midi-input-channel
    if i need this...

    Hey everybody,

    Thanks for posting!

I see that the Force allows you to select a MIDI channel for its plugins but I am not able to trigger plugins assigned to a specific MIDI channel with data sent from a controller on a specific MIDI channel. Currently, it looks like the Force is receiving MIDI data on all channels and applying that MIDI data to the currently selected track much like the MPC Live and MPC X.

I will forward this to development to see what this field is used for. If I receive any information I will update the community.

  • Thumbs up! If it receives from different channels it should route it.
