Help installing Hybrid on a Mac (El Capitan)

I have an akai mpk mini mkII and I'm trying to download Hybrid. I have a mac, using el capitan, and the website said it should be fully supported so that shouldn't be the issue.

MPC essentials is already unlocked. In MPC essentials when I'm supposed to browse to the location hybrid is, I literally can't find it anywhere. When I search for hybrid on my computer the only thing that pops up is the setup. I already set it up, it should be installed. It said it was finished but wouldn't let me put it in a specific location. I have no idea what to do regarding Hybrid.

    Hi Jennifer,

First, please make sure that you are following our complete setup video:

Akai Pro MPK Mini MKII - How to Obtain, Download and Install the Included Software

The plugin will install to a default plugin location on our Mac. MPC Essentials should already by pointed to the correct folder. This folder should be:

Mac HD > Library > Audio > Plugins > VST

If you still cant find, re-download and install Hybrid according to the guide above.

    I hope this helps!

  • Thanks for your reply.

However, this doesn't help me. The video is for PC, I am using a mac, as I already stated. It looks completely different from the video. I've re-downloaded Hybrid but it literally doesn't give me the option to put it in a specific place, I just click the button and it says it installed. But it doesn't say where.

    Hi Jennifer,

As I mentioned in the previous post, the plugin installs here:

Mac HD > Library > Audio > Plugins > VST

Unlike Windows where you can store a plugin file virtually anywhere, Mac's inherently use a single default location to store all of the VST plugins. You do not need to change the location of the plugin and the MPC Essentials Plugin Manager will already be pointed to the correct location.

But if not, or if you already changed this, just select the folder I specified above, make sure the box to the left is checked and click "Scan New." From there everything should be the same as described in the video, regardless of Mac vs. Windows.
