High cpu usage, MPC Element, v1.7.1

High cpu usage, MPC Element with latest update 1.7.1. Problem occurs when using as vst, in standalone everything is fine (regarding cpu). When inserted in daw (not daw related, happens in various the same) I get constant cpu usage of 48-50%. Noticed it launch 2 background processes, both: Rundll32.dll (I see it in task manager). One is fine and the other one is causing big load on cpu. I guess its related to new multicore engine cause I have 2 cores in cpu and rolled back to v1.6 where all is fine but I don't have new features of 1.7.1 :( Updated drivers, rescan vsts, changed multicore option to 1 instead of 2 in mpc essentials, nothing helps except killing that process. After reloading project it comes back again. I hope for an update or an solution. OS Win7 Home Premium x64
Also it remembers registration but I see a message please attach controler or seeking hardware unlock. Not any problem with that but I felt I should report that too. If I reattach mpc element everything is fine in registration info where I see one of those 2 messages. If I dont its fine again, working either way :)

  • Hello BojanB,

    Thanks for posting.

What type/speed of processor do you have? (Intel Core i3 2.4Ghz)

    How much RAM is installed?

What DAW are you using it in? Tested in another DAW at any point?

Since it sounds like it may be a processor based behavior, any details about your computer would help. Thanks for your time!

    Thanks Dan for respond.
    Intel Core2Duo E7200 @ 2,53 Ghz; 6 Gb ddr2 ram

VSTHost (64bit) : same for x32 and x64 MPC Essentials
Reaper (64bit): same for x32 and x64 MPC Essentials
    energyXT2 (32bit): same for x32 vst
Image Line Minihost Modular (64bit) : same for x64 vst
Image Line Minihost Modular (32bit): same for x32 vst
Tobybear Minihost (32bit): same for x32 vst

I have demo of full software installed, tried also test with vst of full MPC software and same thing happens. First time experiencing something like this and ONLY in case of mpc. I have bunch of other plugins but this happens only with mpc software used as vst.

If its relevant sometimes when adding I get grey message from mpc software (in top right corner of desktop): audio
device not working, no audio will be processed, which has no real effect. That wasnt before when used as vst, only in standalone mode. I dont know why it tries to connect to driver when it should use daw settings automaticaly. Like I said it has no effect but maybe in that error lies the solution

I have the same Problem , in top right corner it says No Audio will be processed, then a few seconds later it comes back..Which is really annoying because It hinders my creative process. Another thing is that a few seconds later my MPC Studio works fine but my LPK25 doesn't get sound, so I have to go back to preferences in MPC software and then un-click the midi device and then reclick the box for that midi device and then it works for a few minutes until the audio device not working message comes back again. Whats strange is that this happened on my first computer that I had the software installed in and then it happened again with my new laptop which is only used for the MPC . Please Help..

  • This problem solution is ...

    1) Uninstall MPC Essentials 1.7.1

    2) Install MPC Essentials 1.6.1

    1.6.1 is GOOD !

1.7.1 windows version is SHIT !!

    Have a nice day.!
    • Your suggestion will be the last option (that provenly is working) but I'm waiting for 1.8 update (for months?????). In the meantime I remapped everything and use it as simple midi controller, took me days for that. I mean its shiny and beautiful but without the software its just decoration on the desk, by functionality my 2 LPD8 beats it.
Also in the meantime I checked and I have all runtime libraries net frameworks and all that stuff. Someone would think that programers of the software would know whats causing this just by symptoms I described. Not being able to use it as vst losses all its purpose.
Its a little bit odd that no one asked when Essentials will get 1.8 update, for 1.7 there was a lot of ppl asking and maybe that's way we get it. Maybe ppl lost interest but I would like looper and ability to record through effects (although I bought guitar processor but it wouldn't hurt to have that especially when u have only 1 track). I would also love to see 4 or more tracks in Essentials and ability to turn off sequencer. Before anyone else say Ill say it to myself: "dream on" LOL

  • I’m frustrated
    AFTER RECENT UPDATE 1.8.2
This time I tested MPC Software not essentials (they have same issue-same happens on both) because I didn't want to mess up v1.6.0 which is working fine.
    Unfortunately same thing after update.
I set view in Task Manager to show command line (see picture) and here it is:
    rundll32 "C:\Program Files\VstPlugins x64\MPC64.dll",ProxyMidiPort 1896
    rundll32 "C:\Program Files\VstPlugins x64\MPC64.dll",ProxyMutex 1896
First one is causing high cpu usage. Numbers at the end change on every vst load but both processes always launch on adding mpc vst.
I tried deleting settings and another fresh install-same thing. Tried launching daw as admin-same thing, boot up in to safe mode-same thing happens. Its obvious that something is wrong with mpc vst, I have 1k of vsts but this only happens with mpc vst.
Whats wrong with my machine? Checked if I have netruntimes, visual cc and I have all of that. Im out of ideas, Akai team please help, any suggestion?

  • Confirmed in Windows 10 64-bit on two different computers (my friend has an MPC too). The rundll32 process uses 100% cpu on one core all the time, leading to the CPU fan being audible in my case.

Why is this a problem? Because modern Intel CPUs will enable turbo boost mode if only a few cores are working hard (the DAW), but if too many cores are working full time, turbo mode isn't possible anymore, and performance then drops.
