How any midi tracks can the mpc one handle?

Hi there! New to the MPC world, but was thinking of getting one (possibly) as an external sequencer. Compare it to say something like the digitakt or the octotrackt, or even the squarp pyramid, would this be a good option? What would one recomend?

  • New MPC’s can do the outgoing external sequencing part very good! The only downside is the incoming midi part and the lack of the infamous Multi Midi Mode.Basically this doesn’t allow you to set different incoming midi channels for simultaneous playing of different programs (Drum/Keys/Clips etc.)So if you and a friend for example try to play live a drum program part via pads and a synth key part at the same time you won’t be able to do it.You have to switch to the corresponding program track in order to play it in a live situation. For a non live playing scenario everything works great..

  • They can all be used to sequence, it really depends on

    * Where you want this sequencer to fit into your setup.
    * If you want the sampling or synth features or just midi
    * If you prefer to live play the pads or step sequence.
    * If you want to discover happy accidents on crazy 8 track

MPC is its own thing, it's an instrument that you play ideally. Its interface is the pads. But it can sequence just fine.

If you want a sequencer then another option is Deluge, its interface is a grid sequencer.

    I love them both

  • Hey Acacius Ares,

    Thanks for posting!

Happy to see that Yorgos and John already provided you with some great feedback! To answer your initial question, the MPC One can load up to 128 MIDI Tracks per Project. This figure includes Drum, Plugin, Keygroup, and MIDI Programs.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

Thanks for your help, Yorgos and John!
