How to Loop a pad in MPC?

Hi, everyone
I'm just starting using my mpc element and I can't figure out how to make a sample play in loop.
Let's make an example: I have a sample on pad 1 and I want it to play in loop forever (or until I stop it at least), how do I do that without recording? Is there any way to trigger an auto-loop?
Thank you very mcuh

  • Look at pic, there you choose one-shot mode (default) or Note on mode for that pad. One shot means midi will trigger it and it will play until sample end. Note on means it will play only as long as midi note is hold. So to have perfect loop your sample must have same tempo as project. Look more about MPC Ren or Element on youtube in user created videos. You can also use note on mode and draw 1 long note (trough whole sequence) but you may have clicks/pops when sequence starts to play from beginning. If you matched tempos (bpm) you just add note at every bar where it ends. If you want to do that live Im afraid you have to know in advance when to trigger it again (is it 8 bars long/1 bar etc). I dont think its possible like in ableton to just trigger it once. Maybe try to set to oneshot and set pad mode to MONO

  • Nope, that's not what I meant, you are still thinking in terms of recording.
What I want is that I play a sample and it repeats by itself without recording.
The mpc does it but I don't know how to control: if you double click on a sample and go to the sample page, under TRIM there is a way to play the sample on loop but you have to hold the buttom. I want to do the same but without having to keet it pushed.
I hope I was more clear this time :)

  • Hi Francesco,

    Thanks for posting!

You are able to set a pad to loop in normal play mode but it will only loop while you are holding it down. The parameters and settings will also be assigned to a specific pad, as opposed to the sample itself.

    - Go into your Program Edit screen and find the Layers section.
    - Choose your sample in the drop down menu
    - Find the Slice selection and set this to Pad or a specific slice you would like to use from the sample
    - Set start/end points, loop forward/backward, accordingly
    - Set the Sample Play Mode to "Note on"

and that's about it! The sample should loop as long as you are holding down the pad.

    Hope this helps!

  • Yeah, as I said before, I need to do the same without having to hold the button, that's the tricky part! :D

  • Is it possible to do it with the MPC software and MPC Studio\Renaissance?
