Is there a definite MPC Live Release Date?

I would like to know if Akai has definite shipping/release dates for the MPC Live and MPC X.

  • Thinking maybe they're thinking we're gonna make sure this guy that ordered never gets his or something. I don't get it.

"The MPC Live has certainly been released and if you are a customer overseas and you have pre-ordered, I imagine your MPC will be arriving to you soon. "

I'm in Canada. You wrote this response 2 weeks ago.

What is your definition of soon? I'm in Canada. Not Sri Lanka

    • Worst thing about it is they're not addressing the concern and are responding to other forum posts. Guess it was another lie when he said he'd try and answer any questions in the post he put up 2 weeks ago lying about the MPCs being available and that we should have ours soon

Ok still waiting on the MPC X expected Date June. My hope is that with all the problems the MPC Live is having that they will make sure there is no issues with the X.
I have no apparent issue with the MPC Touch well let me say the issue I did have seems to be gone.

I guess I timed it just right. I knew better than to pre-order this MPC Live, too much mystery and chaos surrounding it. Weeks ago when Guitar Center was the first to get a few in stock, I called a store within a 100 mile radius and they sent me a buggy unit. I called Akai to return it and they replaced it in...count it... ONE day. The unit has been running solid ever since. I understand the frustration thinking someone got away with your money, keeping you waiting on the best thing in Sampler/Sequencer history. Trust me...This MPC Live is THE BEST thing on the market right now for what it does. It does not currently support VSTs like the Maschine, it cannot glitch the crap out of step notes like an Octatrack and it is not pocket-sized like an OP-1, but If you threw the towel in, pick it back up or you will miss out big time. It reminds me of iPhone's Beat Maker 2 in macro hardware form. Very similar workflow, but of course way deeper. I have owned and worked on stuff dating back to an SP-1200, and again - this baby was worth every hour of the endless wait. You must be on expired bath salts if you think "standalone" technology is dead.

Akai's famous variety of samplers were born as a standalone technology as most all samplers and drum machines were. Samplers didn't necessarily need laptops and desktops to work, they were already self-contained. The Fairlight was about the only one, but unless you were loaded you could not afford one. Not sure how the heck anyone can assume that a standalone, something that Akai is renowned and highly esteemed for, can be considered as "backwards". What a silly comment. If anything, it was upside down and backwards to only have these little cheap, plasticy, disco duck dancefloor LED, tethered midi controller offerings for so many years. Don't get me wrong - Ableton Push and Maschine are superbly incredible devices...but without a Mac or a Windows OS, all you have is an empty box homeslice, no pun intended.

      Best Regards,

Hahahaha. You numbskulls. My store never received any of the stock they ordered. This is the most ludicrous response ever.

Is it not evident this response did not answer the one question I asked??? When are you shipping the mpclive to Canada, specifically Long and Mcquade Sudbury. I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone. They're dancing around the most simple question ever?? Why???

When will I receive the MPC I ordered and paid for in full???

      Nick?

      Anyone?

It's evident from this response that they've been shipping?

I'm one on the list Long and Mcquade Ontario Canada?@?!

      Bueller? Bueller?????
    • Just checked Guitar Center's site, which states the MPC Live will be available on June 15.

Interesting, since some people already have units and Akai reps are saying it's been released. Seems to me if it's been officially released, Guitar Center wouldn't be stating that it releases June 15. If it's sold out, the site would simply state that.

It would appear that units have been shipped to retailers to be sold on a specific release date, but some have jumped the gun. Pretty common in tech markets, I've seen this often with video game systems and other tech products, but usually when it happens, the manufacturer issues a "cease and desist", which seems to have been the case here. Which would explain why some people have received a unit, even without a pre-order, while others who actually did pre-order still haven't gotten a unit yet.

weird and frustrating that they have no precise dates for a product launch (in Canada). maybe they ARE revising the hardware. Very questionable though to accept preorders without knowing when they might be able to serve these (paying) customers and even to have the guts to pass the buck onto the retailers.
pretty sure AKAI can do better

  • Received Email from Sweet water Rep for The MPC X Date was moved back.
Akai Moved the ETA back to September for the MPCX.
Just can't seem to get their shot together, most likely won't see an update to the MPC 2.0 Public Beta around this time also.

  • And waiting... And waiting. AKAI rep called me he couldn't tell me shit either. Just to hold on and keep waiting. A little company like Elektron rolls out the Digitakt seamlessly and AKAI can't get it together.

    • Limited quantities??? Again? Was it crowdfunded? Where the hell are my perks??? Im out interest here. Why is it a company like T.E. OR ELEKTRON can meet release dates but not a conglomerate like akai?
    • Because Akai is a toy company and the others are professional hardware manufacturers who actually invest time, experience and innovation into a small range or particular device. Akai has too many toys to sell and use marketing gimmicks to screw you out of your cash. I gave up on this shit ages ago. The software and hardware will probably be outdated by the time anyone gets their hands on them anyway.... oh and yeah...look at that price...WoW !!

late august is quite the blow indeed. hope its not to incorporate even cheaper parts so some execs graph points upwards in a steeper angle. suppose the initial release was just to silence angry customers and throw them a few crumbs

  • I’m frustrated
I had already written a length reply addressing this and obviously it got deleted by the forum masters for likely obvious reasons --but here is actual truth. I don't know about other Canadian retailers but with L&M here is the situation.

My delivery date in Canada through L&M has been switched 3 times. Now it just says "limited units shipping end of August".

It is AKAI that are not providing the units -- not L&M.

The president of the company can not even get a unit.

Canada is being deliberately shut out from this release until AKAI feels like shipping them to the stores.

Here is some irony -- there is a little tour with a Canadian who has a unit who is demoing them in-store around the country; however, you can't even get your hands on one - so what difference does it make?
