MPC Element as a controller for Ableton Live 9

I've been using Ableton for about 8 months now with my Advance 25 and love it. I've decided I want to add my MPC Element for when I want to be ultra portable and bang out some ideas.
How do I setup Ableton Live 9 to use my MPC Element as a controller (including the transport buttons)?

  • Hi,

    Thanks for posting!

The Element setup in Ableton will be essentially the same as the Renaissance and Studio except minus the audio device setup (Element does not have a soundcard). Check out the mapping section of the guide below for instructions on mapping the transport:

MPC - Mapping Transport in Ableton

When you open MPC Essentials as a plugin in Ableton, go into the Preferences > Hardware tab and use the "Transport Controls" option to decide whether the record function will be available for mapping in your DAW or if it will activate record in Essentials. Basically, do you want the record button to start recording in Ableton or in the MPC plugin?

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.
