Mpc Element/ Mpc 1.9 Software unlock

Is the MPC element able to unlock the 1.9 software? I assume so because it asks you to choose your device during initial setup, and the MPC element is an option. However when I got to unlock the software it tells me that the element cant unlock the software. If it can be unlocked I like to know how. If it cant Im going to have to complain because of the lack of support for the controller.

  • Hey THE DON,

    Thanks for posting!

The MPC Element does not unlock a 1.9.x version of the MPC Software. As you know, it comes with the MPC Essentials software which is currently at version 1.8.2. Running the installer found in your Akai Pro account will prompt you to install various drivers for different MPC hardware, including the Element. You will also have the option to install MPC Essentials itself and read the release notes document for version 1.8.2. The image below will illustrate this:

When selecting hardware using the MPC Software installer, you are choosing a device for which a driver will be installed. The Element does require a driver to connect to a computer - this step helps facilitate installing that driver. You could also access it from the product page.

As far as upgrading to the 2.0 Software, it is a paid update. As an Element user, you will have the option to upgrade to this version upon the software's full release. For more information regarding the MPC 2.0 Software, please have a look at the following knowledge base article:

I hope this helps clear things up a bit!

  • The MPC Software and MPC Essentials Software are definitely similar in many ways but they are two distinct software. The MPC Element does not come with the MPC Software; it uses MPC Essentials and because of this, it will not update to any version of the MPC Software.

MPCs that do use the MPC Software (MPC Renaissance, the Studios, and Touch) have MPC 1.9.x available for download.

Let me know if you have any further questions!
