It would be great to be able to mute audio tracks in Track Mute mode.
I know audio tracks are treated differently, and that track mute just mutes the triggers and not the actual audio of a track. But from a usability perspective, not being able to mute audio tracks while performing out arrangements is a huge miss and forces workaround like having to chop up audio from tracks into separate drum programs. It would be really useful if it just all worked together.

I too am very frustrated with the use of audio tracks in the MPC Live. It is, in my opinion, a regression from previous models. I know that Akai looks at JJOS as a sort of "renegade" operating system. But given its popularity, I was hoping Akai would adapt some of its greatest features into these new MPCs.
For starters, I feel like the MPC Live is capable of holding more than 8 tracks, if not then that's not a deal breaker, just surprising to say the least. I also feel the same as mostly everyone on this thread, please make it so you can mute the audio tracks via pad mute, that is absolutely imperative!
Lastly, and perhaps the most frustrating of all when it comes to the audio tracks, why is it that if i adjust Audio Track 1 in Sequence 1(adjust volume, pan, change the track name) it adjusts the same track, Audio Track 1, in Sequence 2, 3, 4 etc.... ??? Very confusing and frustrating. So much so that I've given up on recording audio tracks into the MPC Live for the time being.
I can only hope that Akai is taking all these complaints into consideration for future firmware upgrade. -
yes, very important! especially when working a lot with midi. i mean, the idea is:
midi (synthesizer) >> playing notes into a track within a sequence, record it as audio to turn the synthesizer off.
next new sequence: oops audiotrack still there..why?
best way: track-audio / sequence-audio and maybe separate master-audio over all sequences in the song mode.
many people want to make real songs and not only playling live stuff with clips etc.
please focus a little bit more on the studio possibilities the machine could have in standlone-mode, than focusing to much on "live", although it ́s in the name of this machine. i mean the mpc-X will have the same problems right?

Like any DAW

Tracks should be in the same page. Audio and Midi and drum and arp and chords all together. LIKE JJOS
-
another great feature like the audio mute - would be the ability to run an audio track alonside the full length of a midi song mode layout . see below
midi song ---- [8 bar - 8 bar - 8 bar. ]
audio ---- [full song audio track ]

1Hey Sam,
Thanks for posting!
Good idea! It would be useful to be able to quickly mute audio tracks during a live performance from Track Mute mode rather than mute directly from the audio tracks.
I will submit this to the Akai team for consideration in a future update.
Thank you for your feedback!- view 3 more comments

Sean Richard Thomson April 06, 2019 11:26No brainer you t would be so good. I’ve just done eight blinding audio tracks with Waldorf nave and good old bazzism banging away it would be so good if I could use pads on it to mute audio and maybe a fade out time as well sooooo goood follows r a live setEditDeleteRemove

This has also stopped me from using audio tracks. Major omission

Just encountered this problem.. not being able to mute one audio tracks in different sequences. Makes the audio tracks pretty useless in song making on the MPC live. AKAI should fix this .

This is very important. Akai you MUST fix this. We can not use the audio tracks if it is impossible to mute them between sequences. Hope you fix this as soon as possible.

This needs to be fixed! Im considered returning my MPC live because this flaw.

So its been about a year and I see there is still no update regarding the saving of audio track settings.
I've concluded that the only current work around to the saving of audio track settings per sequence, is to just save whatever sequence(s) in its own separate project. A slightly inconvenient work around, but a work around nonetheless. It has made me change the way I build my sequences now. One thing that sucks though is that if you are playing live, and go to load a project, it will stop all audio play. I personally am not limited by this as I use my MPC Live in conjunction with a looper. Therefore, loading and unloading separate projects doesn't kill my live set. -

Surprised audio track muting is not available, really slows my workflow now I have a load of outboard gear I want to midi sequence then bounce to audio tracks then use track mutes to build the song structure.
The workaround I can see is to:
1. Record to the audio track
2. create a pad program and assign the sample to a pad
3. create a track use that pad program
4. use step sequencer to trigger the pad on the first step
5. delete the audio track
6. now have a track with the audio which can be muted per sequence.
Now this is hardly efficient, and makes the audio track implementation feel incomplete and almost pointless.
If the audio tracks where able to be muted on the track mutes page that will save a whole load of steps.
Another workflow improvement would be to bounce an external midi track to audio track, at the moment it produces silence but heres the steps for my suggestion.
1. You create a midi track sequencing an external synth.
2. Select bounce to audio
3. You are asked which audio track to bounce to (or create new)
4. It plays the sequence realtime whilst recording to audio track.
5. When it completes the midi track is muted, leaving only the audio track as its replacement.
That will save some steps in the bouncing stages. -

What's weird is if you select Pad Mute when audio tracks are selected then it gives an error "Pad mute not available for audio track", this implies Track mute does work with them since there is no error.
It should at least be clearer when you hit track mute with audio tracks selected that it doesn't work. -
