MPC Live - Crashes during importing samples

MPC LIVE - Crashes during importing samples

Hi there. I ́m having a severe problem all of a sudden. When I try to import my own samples via USB the machine is crashing. I tried 3 different USB-sticks and one USB-Harddrive. The problem is always the same:

I select a sample and try to load it. The screen goes black and the message "Oops! Your MPC recovered from an internal error" appears. Did several restarts of the machine.

It happened with firmware-version 2.5(something). Then I did the update to the latest version and the problem remains.

I need to prepare my live gigs, so I ́d be happy to get some help from you guys.
Thanks in advance! :)

If I were to guess, it sounds like it might be a hardware problem or sample format issue, but need to test that.

If you have access to a music store with MPC's then it might be good to take the usb stick and test it in another MPC, if it loads fine then its probably your MPC is faulty.

Another reason might be the samples are in the wrong or unexpected format, sure the MPC shouldn't crash but maybe something about the samples settings is revealing a bug in the software. If this were the case then you might be able to find a way batch convert the samples into something that works. Try different sample editors or tools and try save 44.1khz 16 bit and see if they load.

Another test is sample something in a new project and save it to usb, if it loads again from usb then hardware seems ok and probably a sample format issue.

  • Hey Putte,

    Thanks for posting!

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble. I think John is on the right track here. What format are the samples in? Where were they initially exported from? Are you able to load them into the MPC Software directly from your desktop? Are you able to open samples that are exported from the MPC Software?

Additionally, I would check the format of your USB sticks. We recommend that they are in the exFAT file system for the most reliable performance.

Try this and let us know how it goes!
