Help : Mpc Live footswitch compatibility

Is there a simple footswitch (which can do the same job of my MPC 1000 : Play or Stop) usb or bluetooth in the market or even better : a product sale by Akai like MPC Live accessories ?
Thanks

  • Hey Matthieu,

    Thanks for posting!

The MPC Live does not have a connection for a footswitch. The MPC X, however, does have footswitch inputs. If you are interested in using footswitches with the MPC X, you will use standard 1/4" TS momentary footswitches.

  • You mean that i must buy MPC X because it's the only one to control play and stop with foot controller???
I really use this feature when i play in live session with my MPC 1000 not in studio..
I want to know if it's possible via usb class compliant to transmit midi control message like play/stop or via midi connection or maybe via bluetooth?
Matériel like softstep keithmcmillen or other foot controller is compatible with the MPC Live?
    thanks

  • Hey Matthieu,

The MPC Live is capable of receiving wireless MIDI over Bluetooth LE (if you wanted to connect a device such as the LPK25 Wireless for instance) so if there is a footswitch you would like to use that is capable of sending via Bluetooth LE, you should be able to connect that. As we approach the release of the upcoming hardware, more details will become available regarding the specifics for each machine.

  • I used to use two footswitches with my MPC 1000. One for ‘start’ & one for ‘next’ (in song mode). Very useful.
When I bought the MPC Live, I was very confident. Of course everybody noticed there was no footswitch input but with WiFi, Bluetooth, USB or MDI, there certainly would be a way..
    Perhaps with something like that:
    http://www.midisolutions.com/proddfs.htm#
    But, seriously?
It would be unfair to say « You had one job » because this MPC is great, but it’s called ‘Live’. Live music, musicians. Do AKAI engineers know most of musicians use their two hands when they’re on stage?
    Please, do something!
Control Change, Sysex, whatever you want but make AKAI great again ;)
And please, I already know there are footswitch inputs in the MPC X, that’s really not the question..
    Thanks
    Cheers from Paris

    • Complete silence on this after 4 months? Why, why o why... Even connecting a MIDI solutions footswitch-to-midi doesn't help, as there is no clear MIDI implementation available. What's happening? Really strange...

I'm new to AKAI MPC line, and I find it very strange they offered basic functionality like this in earlier models, and now they don't do anymore.

Not everybody will buy a MPC X just to have footswitch available. Why are there 2 FS inputs on the X model and none on the Live anyway? DOH.

The X is simply too big and too expensive for what we (I guess a lot of people aka live musicians / live performers) need on stage...

I use the live together with some synths and a mixer. I really don't have place left for the bigger X model, and I don't have the budget for it neither.

Buying another piece of AKAI gear, like a LPK 25 that takes extra place as well, and just because it offers a footswitch the Live lacks, isn't exactly a great solution. I wonder if you can map the footswitch of that keyboard to 'next' or 'play start' functions anyway.

I think there are enough requests of people who really want proper FS support or at least clear MIDI implementation. People who already bought the MPC and a lot of people that didn't, just because of there hesitation caused by the foggyness around some AKAI Live features and basic live functionality...

I really hope they get back on track with this very soon...

I'm very disappointed that this wasn't addressed in the 2.0.5 update. It's a great update, as it finally implements a couple things that I purchased the Live for, such as ableton link support. But drum groups and transport controls still don't respond to control change messages in any meaningful way? Really?

I really don't intend to be rude. You all at Akai have a tough job to do, dealing with customers who want every feature request under the sun. But buying a drum machine in 2017 and finding out that its transport controls and drum programs don't respond to a midi standard developed in the '80s (but you can buy the X which gives you two footswitches) is like buying a car and discovering that the passenger window doesn't roll down (but they make a convertible version).

I've just written a topic for this issue (PLAY START, STOP, NEXT SEQ...)

    http://community.akaipro.com/akai_pro...

And the only things that akai will do for me is to merge this two topics...

It is quite ridiculous that a gear that is intendeed to live performance doesn't support external orders of START-STOP-NEXT...also there is a software update like 2.0.5. and they don't update the insuficient user manual...

Maybe we can pray and beg in the mpc-forum to JJOS creator to save us from the unfinished products that we buyed, or maybe give our money to him instead of akai.

I'm very dissapointed, you could say that I should read and inform before buyed but I have this gear since the begining, and user manuals and users experience wasn't big and clear enough to know this before buyed. I'm thinking to sell my Live and return to my dear MPC1000 with JJOS...very sad with what could have been the best live gear ever...but without enough budget/work in the akai software development team...very sad...this issue and ProgramChange/List Edit implementation...is regrettable for a LIVE gear... (yes sirs, most users buyed this for not depending of a laptop)
